    Brakes failed

I hit a patch of sandy dirt when coming to a stop on my way to work a couple years ago and the rear brake wouldn’t release afterwards. I had to crack the rear line loose to release pressure so I could ride home. I thought it was a collapsed rubber brake line, but the blockage ended up being...

    Dealers no longer supporting?

It sounds like you may need to disassemble the front caliper and clean up any accumulation of gunk and corrosion. Make sure you do a brake system flush including actuation of the abs system. I neglected mine and had to replace the abs module as a result. The rear brake on my 07 locked up...

    SFO 2016 Plans?

I finally got the bike put back together with all new suspension from Race Tech. I'm looking forward to SFO next year since I've already burned up all my vacation time this year. If some folks get together up in AR maybe we can get join up for some riding on a Sat or Sun.

    SFO 2011 Home Safe Thread

I made it back home. Hit some heavy fog north of Dover for about 30 miles and a couple of patches of light rain here and there. Washed laundry til about midnight, and left for Houston this morning with a load of chicken. David

    SFO 2011

Count me in, as long as I can get the time off. I guess that means I have to clean the spiderwebs off the bike and remember how to ride again. At least it's out of my brother's garage and won't take me three hours of moving shit out of the way just to go for a ride. David

Actually, the trucker you were talking to lives down the street from me. He's not remotely Southern, though. (North of the border actually). He told me he talked to some guys on FJR's going through Harrison, but I didn't realize he was telling everybody he could find. :glare: There, fixed it...

I had been kind of off my game all day, but looking back it would appear I was out of my mind as well. :dribble:

Post splashdown. Glad I had a support crew to help pull me out. Thanks again guys. I came over a small rise at about 25-30 mph and the road made a small bend to the left at the top. When I tried to correct to the left the front tire just kept sliding to the right. I had bled off some speed...

Nope, just me. I checked it and found no evidence of water intrusion in the final drive. I was planning to change it when I got home Sunday, but I don't think there was enough left in the bottle to completely fill it. I'll get it changed when I get back in a couple of weeks just to be safe...

I'm ok, the bike has a few character building scratches and two of the plastic bolts holding the windshield on are snapped. More details once I get the laptop fired up. David

    Need a little help!!

I've got some stuff laying around the garage just taking up space. I'll see what I can scrounge up in the bike parts or related area. David

BYOB folks, the restaurant has gone dry

I'm sure someone 'round here can help ya think of something likely to git ya in trouble. Not me, mind you, I'm gonna be a good boy this year. David

BYOB folks, the restaurant has gone dry

So, I guess they won't be kicking us out for having better taste than the limited beer selection at the bar would permit this year. Things are definitely looking up. David

    SFO '10 questions??

You and me both. Seriously though, I cant wait to get home and actually go for a ride. Last 4 times I got in the weather in NWA was miserable, can't wait for some nice weather and a day at home. I havent made it to push mtn in about 4 months and I'm going into withdrawal. David

    Tourmaster Jackets

A good search of this site and others like webbikeworld.com will certainly help. I have been happy with the 2 jackets and 2 pants I have purchased, but have had to repair some stitching that started unraveling on all 4 garments. Had to replace a couple of snaps that pulled apart on one of the...

    Garmin Zumo 220

Zumo 220...is that some kind of joke Garmin? It's just a dumbed down (albeit waterproof) Nuvi with a dealbreaker of a pricetag. And to add insult to injury it doesn't even have a headphone jack. The new Garmin 665 looks interesting, basically adds XM to the 660...and increases the price...

What's the wierdest/funniest accident you've been in or seen?

About a month ago I was driving along on I64 in Illinois going pretty close to the 55 mph truck speed limit when I notice a red car in my right mirror coming up pretty fast. There are about 3 other vehicles in the left lane behind me, closest one maybe 75-100 feet behind my trailer that are...

2007 Headshake on Deceleration/Noise in Forks?

Check your front tire for irregular wear, and check the torque on the head bearings. Those two things seem to be major contributing factors to headshake. If you find irregular wear on the front tire, odds are the shakes won't go away until you replace it. If you do replace the tire, get a...

Who has done it since they got back from SFO

I agree completely, it's a waste of time cleaning a bike that's just going to get nasty again before ya get to the pavement. David p.s. I did finally renew my tags for 2009 a few weeks ago. They expired in February.
