    Fork seal replacement

Yes, a piece of 2" PVC works perfectly for driving in the seal. For driving in the brass bushing, I used a quarter section of the 2" PVC. I'm in Westminster, MA -Ken

    Fork seal replacement

Thanks for all the feedback! I talked to the local dealer and they said it should be covered. However, as mentioned, there is a 3 week awaiting period. Luckily, they happen to have a seal in stock, so I purchased it and did the install myself. Good thing I had just enough Silkolene left over...

    Fork seal replacement

My right fork seal started weeping over the weekend. Would the fork seal replacement be covered by Y.E.S.? Thanks, -Ken '05, ~24K miles

    Replacing Left Crankcase Cover

Wow, I didn't know the cover can be damaged to the point of immobilizing the bike. It seems to be a fairly beefy piece. I've just order a new OEM cover from Gary for under $50 (msrp=$85). That's a substancial savings, thanks Gary! Now I'm thinking of getting the carbon cover as well to...

    Replacing Left Crankcase Cover

I have thought about the carbon cover too, but it is $100+, where as a new OEM cover is only about $85. I was thinking of just getting a replacement for now, then consider having the scratched cover either chromed or polished during the winter since I'm planning to get my rims dipped as well...

    Replacing Left Crankcase Cover

I was having a senior moment when I forgot I had just kicked up the sidestand. The bike landed on its left side and scratched the crankcase cover. Question: what's on the other side of the cover? Is it just the generator? Any fluids? Can I simply remove the fairing and unbolt the cover? It is...

Would Ya Look At All The FJR's For Sale

One of my concerns with the '06 is all that ducting and adjustments in the plastic. My 05 had a lot of squeaks and rattles in the tupperware. I had to disassemble and apply double-sided foam tape to isolate the panels.

FJR In Position Of Honor On Pashnit

He has a good write up about his FJ1200 and how he has a 'special love' for the bike. He goes on to say that the FJR "brings on a bit of nostalgia to have the legacy of the FJ1100/FJ1200 carry on". Great website! I do envy him :) Pashnit's FJ1200 link

    FJR Resale Value

The mileage vs value thing is something I'm trying to correlate with the FJR. There comes a point where once you exceed a certain mileage, then it becomes a keeper. Better to just drive it to the ground. For example, when my commuter car turned 75K, I was thinking of selling it while it was...

    FJR Resale Value

I have a 2005 abs and really like the '06. I would like to wait another year so the aftermarket can catch up to the new model. However, my concern is mileage and how it affects my bike's resale one year from now. I currently have 19.5K miles. If I wait another year, my bike would have around...

    Commuter King?

Commute is 55 miles each way if I take the quick route via the highway. I normally would take this route going to work since I'm always running late. However, coming home I'd prefer the more scenic route via backroads. The backroad would be about 63 miles. I would commute on the bike only if...

    Ticking Clarification

I purchased the Y.E.S. for $389 from D&H, the same place I purchased the bike.

    Ticking Clarification

I was concerned about it because at the time of my first post, I did not have the Y.E.S., and my one year warranty was within days of expiring. I now have the Y.E.S. and I am no longer worried. ;)

    Ticking Clarification

Update: The ticking is now audiable at idle. It used to only happen while riding, and only around 3800 rpm. Having it happen at idle certainly makes it a lot easier to perform the stethoscope test. Using a wooden dowel, I've confirmed that the noise is most audiable on headers 1 and 2. Both...
