If you wish that Basecamp handled individual files like Mapsource did ...

Basecamp is great. When I first installed it, I had a large library of .gdb files from trips I wanted to preserve and eventually, re-ride. I was NOT HAPPY that Garmin chose to eliminate the standard "FILE|OPEN|SAVE|SAVE AS" interface in favor of a single database using 'Collections'. I found it...

Does this look particularly BAD to you?

Both sides look like this ... Slight corrosion on the pipe itself and obvious rust on the clamps. It's not as bad as it looks in the photo but still .... This is an '05 with 21K on the odo ... No real maintenance history other than recalls. I put a couple of hundred miles on it before...

Gen1 - new high power stator ... ground spider issues?

Full of questions as I learn the bike ... I am upgrading the stator for the additional 100 watts for goodies. I tour 2-up a couple of times a year and mama likes the comfort of heated gear. Question is ... With increased current, do I need to be concerned about potential ground spider issues...

Length of stock rear shock link?

I bought an 05 and love it. Has a Corbin saddle and I am able to flat foot the bike despite a 30" inseam. I now suspect that the rear may have lowering links. Could someone provide me the actual length of the stock links for an '05? Thanks so much! David Hunt

    defeat windshield auto-retract on 2005

Just learning the Gen1 ... have the black dash plastic off and have tried the procedure for defeating the auto retract as outlined on fjrtech.com (it seems to be a 2004 in the pictures). I've tried to disconnect all three connectors on the C-D side of the dash but non of them defeat...

How hot is normal of Gen 1

Newbie ... just had my first spirited ride on FJR ... WOW!! I am a little surprised by the heat. 70 degree day, 50 mile ride. Some stop and go but not unusual. Frame member next to my calves was hot enough that I could not hold my hand on it for any length of time. Is this normal?
