    Clock Resetting/changing time

Was this problem ever resolved? Reason for asking is that my 2010 model (41000 miles) started to exhibit exactly the same symptoms about four weeks ago, clock resets to 1.00 when ignition off, both trip meters reset to clear, and wind shield does not auto retract when ignition key turned off...

    Looking at a Guzzi

I also thought the Norge was a fine looking machine, and came across one in a local dealership, 13 months old, 8500 miles, BUT, seven previous owners from new. I walked away and bought the Fjr instead.

    Looking at a Guzzi

Electrics are shite!! That said, I'd still have one as a second bike, but be aware of what you are letting yourself in for.

Maybe no mustache, but the oxters make up for that.

How often do you re-torque the steering head bearings if they seem OK?

What FJRay said, if it isn't broke......... Mine needed doing at around 500 miles, other than that they get retorqued every 14-15000 miles as part of the reassembly after changing the fork oil and greasing the bearings.

    Scotch or Bourbon?

What bigjohnsd said. Most ordinary Irish whiskeys are as good as any Scotch Malt, IMHO! Personal fave is Black Bush from Bushmills, the oldest distillery in the world, and still going strong.

    beadrider size

11 x 11 is probably right, mine measures 11 1/2 x 11 1/4, probably spread a bit over the years of usage, just like my butt.

High cost of superior suspension maintenance KrZy8

No maintenance costs, and legendary reliability??? Really? BMW must be selling a special North America model only, if only they would make it available to the rest of the world. They haven't been the same since the parent company became the Beijing Motoren Werke.

2008 Front End Noise of Bumps

Bought my fjr new in 2012, coming up to the 600 mile service and a front end clunk started to happen when on uneven road surfaces and when braking, so thought it would be sorted under warranty. Put the bike in for 600 mile service, told the dealer about the clunk and suggested that the headstock...

All the miles out of this tire

Interesting. My front tends to scrub out on the right hand side and when I have lost confidence in the tyre, usually around the 8000 mile mark, I change it, grudgingly, because the left hand side looks to be good for another 3000 miles. According to Michelin there is no problem, it is due to the...

Possibly spyder problem on my 2010 fjr

S6 under the glove box, fix is to crop the terminal block and solder all six wires together along with a lead direct to the battery -ve terminal.

    Center Stand

OK, you showed me the video, hold my hands up, did not think it could be done. The only reason he managed to do that, is because he did not know it is impossible. Hats off to the guy, he is obviously a superior being!!!!!

Will changing fork oil stop the leaking?

You are well overdue a fork oil change when getting on for 40000 miles, I know Yamaha don't list it as a service item, but my fork oil is changed at every 2nd front tyre change, about 16000 miles, and to be honest, if I wasn't such a lazy SOB, it would be done every 10000 miles. The difference...

    Bar adjustment

Check out MV riser plate in numerous other previous posts, fits without changing brake/clutch/wiring and gives good range of adjustment.

    Saddlebag Locks

Don't really see what the problem is removing the ignition key to open a saddlebag, it's not as though you need to have the engine running while digging around in the saddle bag. When I bought my fjr it came with three keys, the red one which is kept in a safe place, and two ordinary ignition...

    Gen III Grip Replacement?

After riding for an hour or so on the stock grips my hands ache, those grips are harder than a whores heart, my answer has been to use neoprene grip buddies, but have to say that the most comfortable grips ever, on ANY BIKE I have ridden/owned, were the BMW tapered grips. You could ride all day...

FJR Headlight problem possibly dimmer relay

Check out the ground spider S6, under the glove box. You may find that if you put the screen up to highest setting, before you start the bike, that everything works OK. Happened to me last year, ended up cropping the terminal block and soldering all six wires together, been OK since.
