The riding around here is extremely ho-hum in my opinion. When I'm interested in riding, I leave this area. If you're interested in scenery, you might take some of the ferries in the area. There is one that you will pass on your way North from the outer banks. The Currituck, Knotts Island Ferry. If interested in actually doing things that don't involve riding there are many things to do... a few different places for concerts, museums, festivals, wine tastings, beer tastings, etc. The Air & Space museum in Hampton is one of my favorite in this area. They also have a 3D Imax theater. Lots of culture around here. There's even a floating museum in downtown Norfolk.... Battleship Wisconsin. it's very cool! Also, don't discount Williamsburg. The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry would definitely be the way to go to Williamsburg. It runs from Surry, VA to Jamestown... which is right @ the foot of Williamsburg. Keep in mind... the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is tolled. I think the last time that I went across it was $12.50. I don't want to buy the bridge! I just want to cross it. lol!
