G2, Throttlemeister & Heated Grips, Compatible?

Hello,

Just posted in the new members column. Will be purchasing a new 2007 FJR1300A on Friday!! Yeah!!!

The heated grips will be installed by the dealership at the 600mile service as a part of the deal I made with them free of cost.

If I were to buy the G2 throttle tube and throttlemeister, are they compatible with the heated grips?

Hoping they won't complain too much about putting them on for me since everything will be apart anyways...

Any help or confirmation that they will all work together would be greatly appreciated.

The G2 tube is very close to the same O.D. (Outside Diameter) as the stock OEM nylon throttle tube. But the G2 is slightly larger and will present a bit of challenge installing the heated grips. Get your dealer to agree to do them all at the same time for the agreed upon price. That way if they screw up the heated grips trying to shove them babies on the G2 tube, they buy another one!

P.S. make sure they lube the inside of the G2 very lightly with lithium grease. Nothing else compares. Light oil and/or silicone spray does not work well with the G2 aluminum.

Honda heated grips, G2, Throttlemeister and grip puppies. Works very well together. The Honda heated grips are a tad larger ID than the Yamaha heated grips, so I did have to use grip glue on the clutch side only. They shouldn't have any problem installing the Yamaha grips over the G2.

I'll be going to sign all paperwork on Friday. I'll make it a part of the deal that they agree to install these items as a part of the deal. I'll provide the lithium grease and the parts to install. I bet they'll do it to get me to sign the contract. Glad to know that they are all compatible together.

[b]WHAT OTHER FARKLES SEEM TO BE HIGH ON THE LIST?

I plan on getting a Russell seat made after the snow flies.

I also will purchase the Skyway frame sliders

What else should be on my priority list???[/b]

10-4. Makes perfect sense. I think I'll be off to a good start with the G2, Heated grips, throttlemeister, frame sliders and Russell seat.

Slight thread hijack:

Silent, I had the same ipod remote control that you have. Be careful because after several thousand miles the spring loaded clip that holds it to the base will give out and that sucker will going flying down the road. I would recommend velcro on the back of it.

Good advice. Mine already gave out. It's currently attatched with "Servo Tape" from the RC hobby field, so it's not going anywhere B)

I've read elsewhere that the throttle tube has changed for the '08 model year. Can't get my hands on one yet, but there is an interesting new part number.

2D2-82960-01-00.

It shows new for the 08, and if the rumors are true, it has a different shape that may negate the need for the G2 tube. I can't be 100% sure, but as soon as I find out, I'll post in a new thread with my findings.

If yours exhibits the "altitude surge" you'll want to get the fix done. My experience with my 07 is that it took my 6 or 7K miles to break in. A lot of the initial buzziness in the bars disappeared about that time. I started out with grip puppies, but have taken them off and I'm loving the bike-it took some time for us to get used to each other. The throttle spring release helped mine big time.

G2 - is a replacment throttle tube being used on the 06 and 07 to help eliminate the jerkey throttle action at low speeds

Throttle meister - is a throttle lock that is attached at the end of your bar. It replaces the bar weight and is a device that holds the throttle in place(Quazy Cruise Control)

Grip Puppies - are foam grip covers, they increase the diameter of your grips. Also supposed to help with the jerky throttle mentioned above.

Back on topic, I have an AE with Factory heated grips, Throttle Meister and G2. THey work perfectly together, factory heated grips slipped right over G2 with help from an airhose and didnt require any type of adheasive. I installed everything myself and no hacking or modifications were needed. Everything installed as described in the included instructions. Except of course the Throttle meister instruction telling you to ROLL THE GRIP BACK. I lost skin trying to do that. An airhose takes care of installing or removing the grips. I've been using the heated grips for about 3 weeks now (Finally cooled down her in AZ) and there is no effect on the way the Throttle Meister works.
