Yes, I did a search but, I’m looking for a little more current saddle info for my Gen III.

After another grueling 20 mile day, it’s pretty obvious this stock seat is doing injustice and insult to this wrinkled bag of bones I use for an ass. I know guys love their RDL’s. But I’ve been hanging off in turns for so long that it creeps me out to sit upright while banked over. And hanging off with an RDL looks like it would result in an unintended proctology event. So that leaves Sargent and Corbin. I had a Corbin on my Gen I and found it quite satisfactory (after using a sledgehammer and crowbar to get it fitted). Problem is, I despise dealing with the incompetent, lying shitbags at Corbin. Anybody have Sargent experience? Does it function with the Gen II/III height adjuster?

I move around on my russell just fine.

Since I am moving forward anyways to weight the front tire...I am actually in front of the "wings" that make the Russell work.

Never had an issue.

Never had them lie to me either.

Likewise, I've got me a custom seat from Rich's here in Kingston, Wa. Here's a pic from it:

I move around the bike in curve, hang of from it all is fine, the shape of this seat doesn't bother me a bit.

Hmmmm..... Now there's some food for thought. Guess I'll have to find somebody in the Phoenix area with one I can take take a closer gander at.

Thanks much.

I have a Bill Mayer custom saddle you can try if we can arrange that get-together next week.

It's my second Sargent, the first one was on a VFR, my butt is happy with it, very comfortable for me and yes the height adjuster works. ;)

I've had two Sargent seats; one on my '04, and one on the '09. as stated, the height adjustment functions as stock. My first one was used when I bought it from a forum member in '06. It survived a crash in '08 and ended up on Luv2Ride's '04 and is still in service as far as I know.

I've gone across county on the Gen 1, and 42k miles on the '09. Very happy with the balance between distance comfort and ability to move around on the bike in the twisties. Very happy overall, but I have never had a Corbin on the FJR (rode sport bikes with them) or a RDL.

I had a Corbin a few years back on an 85 FJ1100 and loved it. Haven't tried one yet on my FJR, so far I'm actually okay with the stock seat. One thing I have noticed about Corbin seat however is a pretty extended break in period before they actually get comfortable. The few I've ridden seemed harder than stock for at least 1000 miles and then gradually improved. My experience with them is from a few years back so i can't say firsthand how their new product is.

I have had a Sargent seat for years and it has given me faithful service. It is significantly better than the stock seat on a Generation I FJR. Looked good too, as you can tell from the prior posts. I rode it on a leisurely 30-day western tour into Idaho and western Canada in 2011, but after about 200-300 miles, I was ready to get off the bike for the day. In 2012, I was looking for something with a little more long range comfort for the ride out to the IBA International Meet in Denver and qualification for IBA membership (with a Saddlesore 1000). I settled on a Kontour Seat, which was a modification of my stock seat. I found the Kontour, which is shaped like the stock seat, to be a significant upgrade from the Sargent for LD riding. My butt still got tired on the 1,000 mile ride, but I never experienced that numb-burn that I did on the Sargent seat. My $.02.

I have a Sargent that I took off my '06 and put on my new '13 FJR. I have done a number of 6-900 mile days on it, but my butt does get a little sore. I am thinking of trying the KonTour, so if you are interested in trading your stock seat (+ $) for my Sargent, send me a pm..........

I've had a Rich's Custom for a few hundred miles now, built for those of us with shorter inseams. I think it slopes too far forward/down, I kept sliding forward on it into the tank, so I removed the plastic frame underneath and that helped, and that also made it possible to raise it a bit at the front so now its fine. Nice to ride long distances on once I got use to the fit being broader than stock. But I am too curious to stop there, so I've ordered a Yamaha gel seat, and also bought a lightly used Corbin as well. Trying them out will have to wait until Spring as I don't ride on ice or close to freezing and New England has turned that way lately. So more notes in a handful of months.

Russell Day Long also makes another version of their day long seat called the "Sport" seat and does not have the protruding upper thigh support wings. I've had an RDL seat on my last 4 bikes and it's truly a day long seat, but never I've never tried their Sport seat.. Anyone used a Russell sport seat?

I haven't tried a Sargent seat on my FJR but I did have a Sargent for my Kawasaki ZRX1200. The stock ZRX seat had me crying uncle after 1.5 hours whereas the Sargent took 3 hours before I couldn't stand it any longer which was OK because it was time for gas then. After gassing up the first time the time in saddle was reduced to 2 hours at a time before needing a rest.

I can get up to 3 hours riding time with the stock FJR seat but I'm squirming in the saddle the last 60 minutes. The build date for my Russell is 3.5 weeks away so I'm really looking forward to riding with it under my butt.

Corbin to me is like sitting on cement.

I have a new Russel with a few thousand on it but when a group buy came along for a RDL I jumped on it. The sargent is the best buy it put it on seat I have ridden on.

The RDL is all that and a bag of chips with salsa too! Never an issue on moving my 56 year old ass abound on it. And it as was said when I do move it is to weight the front and I can get enough ass out over the side to do what needs done. However that is rare that I need to move around on it to corner. I suggest entery speed and line would help you discover the real joys of riding a RDL.

However that said the Sargent is a fine seat for buy and install in a short period of time. And if you move to a RDL you can use the Sargent to sell it for the new 13 and transfer the RDL over.
