I keep getting a stunned feeling when the Spotwalla page refreshes...

Pretty cool way to mark the 200K mileage milestone.

I don't have the Spot thingie, but I'm thinking that if Tony is taking I-10 Eastward, and the timing is right, I may be able to tow him a few miles for encouragement. How can I learn if (and an estimated WHEN) he would be passing through Lafayette, Louisiana?

I'm told that every marathon runner hits the wall at some point. From there forward, you find out who you really are.

Click on his spotwalla link to get an idea of where he is: https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=b05b53f34e65f411e

He will know every bump and dip on I-10 when he is done.

Way to go, Tony!

Looks like he'll miss most of the morning rush hour for Tucson and should be in good shape for the BBG after that. Go Tony, Go!

Roy (McRide) and I met Tony at his "mid point", aka turnaround, in San Diego last night.

He's looking good and in remarkably good spirits - FAR better than one might expect at this point.

Rolling in to the Shell station in Ocean Beach:

Roy greets Tony:

Another fan:

Tires are looking good with 12k miles on them:

Almost as good as a Frequent Flyer program, Thursday's stay was 33% cheaper than Sunday's (Labor Day weekend):

Lucille, sharing a parking spot with another FJR:

By the time this photo posts, the '05 FJR on the right will have over 200,000 miles (here it is with 199,6xx):

Rock on, Tony!

So, he's somewhere near San Simon, AZ now.

Google maps says that if he averages 70 mph (realistic?), he should be in Lafayette, La somewhere around 5 am CDT tomorrow morning?

Keep an eye on his progress via Spotwalla. I think his moving average - especially in some parts of Tejas - is just a bit faster than 70.

And after he finishes today's BBG (his 4th on this trip) there's no telling when/if/where/how long he'll rest before the final run to JAX.

When I click on the spot website, sometime I don't see anything, but I can read data on the left side of the window. Sometimes, I see the map with his bike icon on it, but only for a split second, then it goes away.

Edit - it works on my phone. I should be able to track him.

Spot data says he's last check in was near Van Horn, TX at 5:30-ish pm CDT. He was at San Simon, AZ at 12:15-ish. So in the heat of the day, his average is a smidge less than 60 mph?

OR...

Yesterday he was "using up" some old batteries and the Spot went to sleep - twice. So he may need to change out batteries at his next stop.

Last time I looked, his last two checkins indicated 82-84 mph ("flow of traffic").

Thank you very much! You have just taught me something very useful. Now I can quit cursing this computer.
