OK. There's been a flurry of FNG members from metro ATL over the past month or so, and there already are a half-dozen members close by -- meaning Macon and Augusta. (You know who you are.)

The Georgia FJR Riders Group subforum -- this section -- can help us identify potential riding partners more easily than just scanning all the varied threads, looking for someone with "GA" in their signature.

If you're an FNG, please post up here. If you've been around for a while, please post up here. If you live outside of Georgia, but want to be included, please post up here.

I've been talking about an RTE in the heart of the City, so here it is: Community Q, 1361 Clairmont Road, Decatur. If you prefer: 33.792536, -84.305410. There is plenty of paved parking, but the lot is not universally level. (There will be help available to pick up your bike.

If this lunch meet-and-greet is of interest to you, vote on whether to have it Saturday, August 13 or Sunday, August 14. Yes, it will be hot; this is Atlanta, and it will be August. Community Q has plenty of water, plenty of Coca-Cola, and plenty of lemonade. You will probably survive. I have no suggested ride before or after; go home and soak up some air conditioning.

.............................................................................................

I'll be on rbentnail's RTE&L ride next weekend, and headed to NAFO 5 at the end of July. Anybody else planning something long distance or short distance? Want a riding partner? Post up here, or in a new thread in the Southeast Ride Planning subforum. Noobs, it’s a free country; you can suggest something, too.

We are lucky to live close to the finest riding east of the Mississippi, and shouldn't waste the opportunities available to us. Take a partner or two, reduce your risk of bad stuff happening while you're riding alone, meet a few new folks, and -- who knows? -- one of them might suggest a SaddleSore or 50CC that turns out to be a whopping, big-time adventure.

I'm about an hour south of ATL on I-85 just over the AL stateline. But I would interested in some of those events, rides, get togethers.

Welcome. I'll try to make the zombieland RTE, or at least show up for the E. We've had Community Q cater at our offices around Christmas a couple of times. We had to stop because people started coming out of the woodwork once they heard how good it was from previous years. We literally had 60 folks show up one year.

Marietta here..

I'm interested in RTEs but my schedule can be a bit crazy, so it's usually a last-minute thing for me.

Dang man! I'm lucky I stumbled in here. IMHO you should start a new thread for your RTE. JS.

ETA: Right now, I'm in. I vote Sunday Aug 13. Maybe Ken the HD guy & I can ride down, eat, ride a little, overnite somewhere, then ride home Sunday.

ETA2: if it matters, we'd prefer something in the 2pm time frame. It's 320 interstate miles for me, add on another 180 for Ken from Lynchburg, VA. I'm thinking we can leave Decatur and mosey up to Easley/G'ville to overnight, then home Sunday.

^^^^^ Once the date is settled, will post up the RTE appropriately. If y'all are coming, we'll consider a slightly-after-noon start time ...

See you Sunday; Raceway at I-85 SC exit 75.

Just don't base any decisions on us. I've got an invitation for free room and board for the weekend after (Aug 19-21) and I got a feeling SWMBO won't be too happy about me being gone two consecutive weekends. Given the ultimatum, I'd have to pick free stuff every time!

I'm in for blazing through the storch in August...

Should come up towards Acworth where it's a bit cooler and hit a few curves :)

Not sure if the PM thang to join the Georgia group is still valid (2008) post, if it is let me know..... If not, well I'm here.

-----

Favorite Day trip... Acworth > Tooties (yea I know it aint there no more, but I still call it that) > HWY 60 > HWY 19 > HWY 180 > And curve it backdown

2nd Favorite... Acworth > Ducktown or Turtletown (your pick) > Telico > Robbinsville > Tha Den > Maryville > Scream home on 411

I rode North yesterday, it was close to 100 in Woodstock, but dropped steadily as I approached Tate, where I turned East. On 53 in the trees, it was mid-80's and felt great, especially in the dips over creeks and such. I stopped for dinner in Dawsonville where it had was back in the high 80's. After dinner, the blast back down 400 was quite pleasant.

Augusta here, yes I DO know who I am. I didn't know this thread existed till i was stumbling through the regionals today. My attendance depends on if I think the tires can make it. The little dots in the middle of the rear (PR4) are pretty well gone at this point. I don't think I'll have new tires by then since I don't get my annual bonus till the end of the month.

Edit: maybe I'll just suck it up and ride the SV there :p

If I can get out of work that weekend I'm down for the RTE and I vote for Sunday so I don't have to take more than 1 night off

If you hit the "view new posts" button on the upper righthand part of the page, you will see a list of the posts you haven't read since your last time on the board...listed in reverse chronological order.

If you go through the list of threads, you are likely to see all the threads, without switching between subforums...just hit the "mark forums read" button when you are done perusing...and it won't keep bringing up old threads.

Anyways, it's an easier way to make sure you don't miss announced events...
