Done a search but nothing found, how does one get the tool tray out? I tried undoing the 2 bolts but held somewhere else. 2004 odel FJR. I have been told there are bolts underneath, how do I get to them. You would think this task would have been made easy.

Going by memory as my bike is currently in shipment to me it was pretty easy.

I recall taking off the parts (like you are changing the air filter)

With both side panels off and the seat you should be able to see all the bolts to get it out

I think it was two in the tray itself

One or two from behind (looking forward)

Then 1 or 2 behind the baffle for the air filter

The tray came out along with the bikes computer, so be carefull with the wires and such.

Again, this is from memory, but I just did it 6 months ago to mount as many farkles in the tray as possible.

PCIII USB, autocom, valentine 1 power port all fit inside nicely with the toolkit taken out

Good luck, with a little patience and a flashlight you will find all the fastners required.

BTW, this was on a 2005 Non ABS so yours may differ, but I don't think so.

There are a couple of hidden screws under the rollover sensor and other wires rear of the tool tray itself. There is more to the tool tray than just the tool tray itself so you have to look further afield for screws holding it down. I remember having to disconnect a couple of the sensors and/or move them to one side to get to some of the attachments. There are also screws to the side (inside the tool tray) as well as the downward facing screws.
