    Rear-Ended at 70mph—I’m Done!

I did use the brakes after I slowed to 25. That light is so bright that there is no way it couldn't be seen.

    Rear-Ended at 70mph—I’m Done!

In July I was riding to work on I270 at 5 a.m. in light traffic. Saw brake lights start to come on about ¼ mile ahead so I rolled off the throttle and slowed to around 25 mph—didn’t even have to use the brakes. Some ways behind me a driver was either asleep or texting and didn’t slow at all (my...

    Brake/Clutch Master Cylinder Washers

Does anyone know of a source for the sealing washers for the brake and clutch master cylinder lines? Yamaha wants $4.75 each. They are just copper washers--$4.75, REALLY???

    Dual Platinum Spark Plugs

Automotove training/service manuals (motorcycle too) use conventional electron theory to explain the flow of electricity. So diagrams always show electrons/amperage flowing from postitive to negative. Makes it easier to explain how stuff works and where to check for voltage drops etc...

    Dual Platinum Spark Plugs

. Here is a graphic that show how a waste spark system operates. Also, GM, Ford and Chrys all made several millions of cars that used wast spark ignition systems. They call it DIS (distrbutorless ignition system). The red arrows show the path that the spark takes through the two spark plugs.

    Another TPS question

Try tapping on the tps with a screwdriver handle while idling. If the idle changes from wacking the tps--you've got a tps problem. Try this both cold and hot.

    Hot starting (cranking) problems

This is correct in that the amp numbers point to the general problem, or a place to start looking for the problem. If when operating the starter (and it's turnig too slowley to start the engine), and the amp draw is more that 50 amps, the amp reading is indicating that the battery, cables...

    '05 ABS rear sensor fail

Check the wiring diagram--if the sensor has 3 wires--it's a Hall Effect switch/sensor. If it has only 2 wires, it's an AC pickup coil type of sensor. I'm pretty sure it's the AC PU coil type. Check the cable from the ABS unit to the sensor. If it's damaged (wire broken) it can be repaired with...

    Fan relay

To trigger the relay (and test the wire from the relay to the ECU) take a 12-volt test light and connect the alligator clip to ground. Turn the ignition sw on (you can also start the engine--but it is not necessary) Find the trigger wire from the relay to the ECU (in the example above it's the...

    Lunasee Wheel Lights Installed

The tape can be purchased directly from Lunasee for $25 (enough for both wheels with some left over for repairs). They also make a tape applicator for $4 that applies the tape evenly around the wheel. The tape is easy to apply and it does go around the wheel without wrinkles. I tried a short...

New Yuasa Battery Manual -- (you can download it!)

I wrote the new Yuasa Technical Manual for Powersports Batteries. The previous manual was over 12 years old. The new manual features more practical info about batteries including how to activate both conventional and AGM batteries, how to test a battery and more. A pdf of the manual can be...
