Sighting near Mountain City, NV 7/17/14

Saw a cobalt blue FJR just south of Mountain City this morning. It was traveling with a Victory Vision & a canary yellow Goldwing. Anyone here?

    Oil filter superseded?

All well & good unless one has the hand strength of an arthritic, prepubescent little girl. I only use a wrench to snug it up a bit, not tighten it til it won't turn any more. Fact is, the stubby filter might not even allow enough room to hand-tighten it. I dunno, haven't tried it... just...

    Oil filter superseded?

Anyone know why Yamaha decided we need to use the same filter as a FZ6 (part #5GH-13440-50), rather than the old 5JW-13440-00? I ordered some parts from BikeBandit.com a while back, including the 5JW filter. Today I was gonna change the oil, and noticed that the new 5GH filter in the box was...

1st IBA Ride | MTF SS1000, Harrisburg, NC | July

Playing around with Streets & Trips, i came up with a RAG (Ride Around Georgia) route -- staying as close to the state boundaries as reasonably possible, that comes out to a hair over 1100 miles. I've never ridden there so i don't know if that route is really feasible or not, given the time...

    Come drink some POISON!

I don't know if it's still there, but there was a powersports store on the main drag, kinda east of the Hotel Nevada if memory serves. Can't even remember the name of it, so you're welcome fer nuthin! Might be better off making arrangements in Utard or Vega$ if you're coming that way. Looking...

Did I blow my fork seals?

The seals on my '06 went around 30k last year, & the mech said i needed new bushings too. I don't have the tools or the know-how to take just the forks in, so it was somewhere around $300-400 for the repair. Yeah, it stung a bit, but it got done right. Happy so far at 43k.

    Throttle spring rewind

Thanks for this nugget of info. I too had been contemplating a rewind because the throttle closure issue as you described. But if the end result in the difference between the unwind and the rewind is as noticeable as you describe -- even with the G2 (which i never did), then mine shall remain...

    Starcom/Escort phone jack

A couple of wires in the telephone jack that plug into the Escort broke at the back of the jack. I have power, but no audio through the Starcom. I can't remember which wire/jack item i ordered way back when, & can't seem to find a suitable replacement using multiple search terms. I ordered an...

    Lowering options

Dainty little girl MY ASS!! You do have a way of working the system though. Enjoy it while you can since your charm, good looks, & 'lash-batting probably won't work as well after you turn 30.

New Technology -- Better Than Radar Detectors

Very nice cast, indeed. In context, i thought the article was going to be about a new radar detector detector detector, until i saw a picture of the unit. I used one of those Spectre radar detector detectors to good effect for a coupla years before leaving the Patrol.
