    Electric: Watts avalable?

Thanks for the response and looking for me. So the 03 - 05 put out 490 watts and left 120-130 spare. The 06 puts out 590. Does that mean there is 220-230 spare? I'm surprised there is no clear cut definitive answer to this question that I can find.

    Electric: Watts avalable?

Help! I've spent way to much time searching for the answer the following question. In fact, my eyes are starting to fail and I've got a kink in my back which a change of chairs hasn't helped. There's plenty of info, but no answer to the basic question: How much wattage is available after the...

    Throttle spring mod

With the middle throttle spring removed on my "06, I don't get the deceleration I'm used to and it feels wrong. Releasing the throttle at say 5K, there's a half second wait before the engine begins to slow the bike. I can manually close the throttle for faster reaction. Are you experiencing...

    Kriss Turn Signal Cancel Unit

Thanks for taking the time to post all the step by steps and photos. I think I'll go ahead and put one on now that I have your instructions to rely upon. Those tiny invisible signal indicators are one of the few things I don't like about my FJR - seems like a bad design decision.

Dual Sport tires on a FJR?

Good thoughts all. Thanks. But I am thinking - The 1200GS I rode with comes with a kind of knobby and the bike is rated to haul up to 936 lbs., weighs 500+ and it hauls ass on the pavement. Just a thought.

Dual Sport tires on a FJR?

On a recent ride through Washington on backroads, on several occations, the pavement ran out and we were faced with miles of gravel or retrace our steps. My buddy on the GS1200 was ready to continue of course, the VFR guy probably could have been talked into it, but I declined. Bummer! Next...

    Helmet speakers?

"One last suggestion on the speakers. The $5 airline headsets can be torn apart and tucked into ear pockets on your helmet. A $2 plug soldered on the cable end to match your MP3 etc., and you are good to go!" I just read that and thought, cool, great idea! I've got several A/A sets on the shelf...

    Garmin software

It's not surprising that Garmin does not support the Mac, as they seem to specialize in totally non-intuitive software! In all the 30 odd years I've been working with computers and software, I've rarely come across worse. They may make good hardware, but their software suckith big time. Boy...

DFW to NW Montana road trip

I just returned from Glacier Nat park (on the way back from Banff & Jasper). I suggest you do not miss the Hwy to the Sky in Glacier - just ride it very early in the morning. We started out at 7am - no traffic all the way to the other side. Be sure to exit the park on the east side, and...

Cameron Park to Quincy - long day

Hi, I'm staring at your route and thinking, how they going to ride FJR's on all that dirt? I believe all this part is dirt, and some of it was real rough last time I rode it on a KLR. Right on Robinson Flat Road Right on Foresthill Road Turns Into Soda Springs Road I didn't think there was...

Oregon: Best south > north route?

Thank you all for the suggestions. I've got them all highlighted on my map. The 4 of us will meet for breakfast tomorrow and talk over the first few days routes. I'll post a ride summary and some pics when I get back. Is it tomorrow yet?

Oregon: Best south > north route?

We're leaving California Wednesday for OR, WA and then on to Banff, Jasper & Glacier. I've got some good info for roads everywhere but Oregon. I hear 97 is bad, the coast is very, very slow due to all the small towns along the northern half, and all the good stuff seems to be east west. Any...
