Looking at the road&track article there is a picture near the bottom of the article of him parked in front of the Portofino hotel sign. One would assume thats at the finish after the run. Sidewall of rear tire sure looks like a regular MC tire. Can't tell the make myself.
I see he has the obligatory VStrom hand guards as well. Do love those Gen1's. Good to see a couple of them still in the game. Worth keeping in mind that his bike is over 15 years old now.
And I'm not saying anything negative. I would enter my 2005 FJR Gen1 into a 3rd IBR in a heartbeat...
Absolutely fantastic news for Wendy. That is _SO_ awesome. You go girl!
There are a few things I am noting at the end of this years rally.
1) The aforementioned first victory by a women. Just awesome. We've had women riders around before that have ridden at this level. But to finally have...
Writing this Friday at 5pm EST. Finishers and standings to be revealed at the Banquet in a few hours.
Just want to congratulate everyone who participated this year. Good to here that everyone is back safe and sound!

Okay its Thursday 15:00 EST which puts the finish 16 hours away before points loss and 18 hours away for DNF.
Right now everyone is within striking distance of the finish.
Except... For the couple dots Montreal and Gaspe. Montreal is a maybe, but they gotta move. The person up by Gaspe...
Well. Its 8:30 AM EST Thursday morning. 24ish hours to finish, 26 hrs to DNF. The next 24 hours will be interesting!
It seems that Venice LA (or something near there) is in play as I see a few riders strung out down to there. So thats one of my guesses confirmed.
Of the riders going to...
Just checked the map at 10ish EST and the three riders from Alaska have crossed into the US of A.
But interestingly not all at the same spot. They've been running the same path from Alaska, through Alberta then most of Saskatchewan. But just as they near the border their paths have all...
Okay folks. Its 8ish pm EST as I write this. That puts the checkpoint 36 hours away before you start losing points and 38 hours till DNF time. We've all been kinda focused on Homer and the Alaska Boys but there is alot more going on.
Two riders seem to have headed for the outer edge of the...
Reminds of the first year I ran, 2011. To finish you had to nail all 48 states. Around Day 3 was getting paranoid I would lose track. So I wrote down on a piece of paper the 2 letter codes for every state in two columns then folded the piece of paper so it would sit in the tank bag visible at...
At 13:00 EST the rider that was in Homer is nearing Anchorage. It is 69 hours from there to the finish. It is also 67 hours till 8am at the finish and 69 hours till the drop dead finish time of 10 am. (If my math is correct)
What follows is all just my opinion...
I don't want to seem...
The other thing I noticed about the rally packet released so far was the R<n> bonii for obtaining receipts. The points values were vanishingly small. But there was no other mention (that I saw) referencing those bonii. My guess is they are either [A] mandatory or feed into another...
I've been wondering the same thing. Also noticed that the points were on a separate doc. Here's a what-if: All the bonii are now\still in play, but the points values may have changed from leg 1. Hmmm that would be an interesting twist.

FYI: On the IBR website they have the Leg 2 Spotwalla animation. 16:20 EST.
Just checked the main spotwalla page and WHAT THE FRAK? Are my eyes deceiving me but the rider that just finished the loop up to Dawson Creek and back down to Tak has now gone south towards Valdez. I had thought...
As I write this it is 14:30 EST on Monday. Riders have left the 2nd checkpoint around 6ish hours ago. And right now there are two parades of riders. One on I-90 the other on I-84. Just two lines of dots down two interstates. Just waiting to see when and by how much the riders begin to...
