2007 FJR Gen 2 Motor Parts

Sorry - Thanks for looking. Yep, that can happen if the clutch bleeder drips fluid on that cover.

2007 FJR Gen 2 Motor Parts

I do have both left side covers. Unfortunately the large one covering the magneto (YAMAHA lettering) is not in very good shape. No major damage, but it has rock bounce and wear & tear. The other cover (oil fill) is in pretty good shape. It does have some of the factory finish blemished from...

2007 FJR Gen 2 Motor Parts

I have a 2007 motor that has 79K. The previous owner had a CCT failure and it grenaded the head, I also had to scavenge the drive gear-set to repair the replacement motor. The case is split and most things are removed except the crank and rotating assembly. The head has not been...

Project Bike - CCT Fail - Engine Woes

Ok folks - Sorry about the lag in updates to my progress. I've had a rough couple of months with some personal issues. Sometimes the garage can be very therapeutic. Nuts, bolts and a good project can make the days go by. So --- Great news! The FJR is back on the road! She runs great, shifts...

Project Bike - CCT Fail - Engine Woes

Escapefjrtist - thanks for pushing some karma my way. Even though I didn't cause any of these motor/trans issues, I sure hope to learn from everyone's wisdom. Now that both motors are out, it's roll-up the sleeves time. I ride like an old man anyway - nothing too fancy. BZ

Project Bike - CCT Fail - Engine Woes

Thanks dcarver - I hope I have enough surface area to explode both motors at once. I think I went through rpGoatBoy thread. lots of great stuff. BZ

Project Bike - CCT Fail - Engine Woes

Thanks Streethawk - your post (along with others) has shown that it's not that terrible to dig in and get stuff fixed. Not much going to happen this week. Waiting on parts and a TDY to Offutt next week.

What did you do to your FJR today?

OK - Got the motor out tonight after work. It's on the work surface. I've got a real-life exploded view of one motor and about to be two... BZ

What did you do to your FJR today?

Hahahahaha - Big Ogre... The only thing missing on that scooter is the rest of his family. Seriously - when I was in Taiwan I would regularly see them 4 up.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Didn't get the motor out tonight - stuff came up. I thought about it though. BZ

Project Bike - CCT Fail - Engine Woes

Thanks escapefjrtist - I wish I could say that money is no object. The amazing part is that the 'old motor' gear set looks like it only has 10K miles on them (80K in truth). A true testament to the quality of the parts. Something VERY cringe-worthy must have happened to round-off dogs on the...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Stripped her down in preparation to pull the motor. 2nd gear is bad (dogs). Everything but the clutch release cylinder (I hate the drip, drip, drip). I'll do that right before the motor drop.

Project Bike - CCT Fail - Engine Woes

I thought about that Audiowize, but my personal feelings on that are: 'never trust a piston that's made contact with a valve'. Even the smallest micro-cracks over time will become bigger cracks, then it might let go and I'd be worse off than before. So - would I rather do pistons/rings and all...
