    Should black hex box remain?

Some folks just can't answer a question. Yes, that "black box" is a permanent part of the display. Not actually part of the LCD display you see once the key is on and the instrument cluster is powered up. It houses a warning light. You should follow the suggestion to find online and download...

    Anyone use tank bags?

Curious, is that FJR a bike you have kept overseas? Or did you find a rental company that rents FJR's? Just looking for information for a future trip. Thanks,

    Anyone use tank bags?

+1 for SW-Motech bags. Several sizes. I've used a magnetic tank bag for decades and never had a problem with stability with any of them. But they will mar up your tank. Used the Held II carry magnetic for years and loved it, until I needed to replace it and didn't like the "improved" version...

    Purchasing new '23 questions

I totally agree with you on all accounts.

    Purchasing new '23 questions

Yes, from Texas. When I purchased my 06 they came with the bike, and everyone I know that has bought one (in the States) have gotten them, unless the dealer was a bit of a dud. I think I may be dealing with a bit of a dud. But for the deal they are making me I'm not going to walk away over an...

    Purchasing new '23 questions

I have an 06 FJR with 112k on it and am looking at upgrading to a new '23. When I purchased the 06 the bike came with the inner bag liners and an extra lock for the top bag if I were to ever add it. Do the new bikes come with these accesories? I ask, because my local dealer, whom hasn't had in...

The WHY NOT 2023 is a reality!

Tried to look up what route you may have taken, not sure I have it right because it doesn't look like there is one of certainty. Could you maybe elaborate as to the roads you took? Planning on riding around that area and would be interested in off the usual path riding. Thanks

    buying high mileage FJR

06 with 112K miles on it. Performed the valve services at the recommended 26K miles each time. It's never needed an adjustment. Yamaha valve train is amongst the most reliable. No other issues with the bike, runs like new and I wouldn't be afraid to take it across country (and while I don't...

    Heading West

Following your story as next year I'm off on a similar one. I call it my one lap of America. My questioin today is: What do you use to make your coffee in the morning? Looking for something small enough to pack on a bike.

    Hill country FJR ride

So? Is this ride a go? I'm in if so. Live in San Antonio so it's no big deal to meet up wherever. Been riding the Hill Country for 30 years now and know the roads like the back of my hand. Weekend of 3/18 works for me. Actually, most weekends will work! :)

    2006 100K FJR here!

Actually, at 110K now. Bought new in Sept 06. Has Audiovox CC w/ skyway mount, Cee Baileys, keyed fuse block to run additional electricals for heated gear, GPS, radar, etc. Spend a lot of time in the Texas Hill Country and ride NW AR at least once a year. This bike has carried me, and...

Oil filter thread..... er part numbers, not which is best.

I did click on the link in #16 and read about the leakage. Thank you. As for added capacity, it can help the oil run cooler which may be an added bonus in the hot Texas clime. Or maybe not.... It's not just a change in part number, but a change in the filter also. The one that I got, ending in...

Oil filter thread..... er part numbers, not which is best.

Well, if the current one is the one ending in 60, not 50 like I have then technically I don't have the correct one, but I'm guessing it will work since my motor hasn't cratered. Thanks for the replies, especially the auto filter part numbers. I may just go that route next time to get some...

Oil filter thread..... er part numbers, not which is best.

Thanks for all the replies! I've tried all the parts fiche places and if you can actually find an oil filter on any of them your a better net surfer than I. They list everything else, but the closest I've seen is the oil cooler listed. Looks like I have the new part number filter and that...
