Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

For reasons I won't go into here, I won't be posting on this forum again. I do have some updates to this thread, but I'll only be updating on the Concours forum thread. The link is in one of my posts above. Feel free to PM me - I may or may not be getting them, but if I do I'll respond.

Sometimes Nightmares can turn into a Sweet Dreams!!

Congratulations. Glad it all worked out for you in the end.

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

I have a lot of respect for your thoughts - thanks. I agree with your assessment. In a way, Yamaha is just a bit out of synch. I reallly don't blame them -they are just at a different point in the life cycle of the FJR. Four months ago my friend and I had no interest in the Concours at all...

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

Exactly the position we were in. Heck, they didn't even change the paint for two years. I love the FJR. If they would add a sixth gear, a touch more power would be nice, cruise control (they would sway a lot of ST buyers alone), tire pressure monitoring I'd go back to the FJR in the next two...

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

I doubt it. There was a day when I did them myself, but it's unlikely I'll want to take the time it takes. I'll take a look at some of the threads that detail how to do it and make a decision. It's about 15 months away so I still have time to change my mind several times :glare:

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

I don't ride two-up on that bike (or the FJR) so maybe that makes a difference. I don't feel the Concours lacks in mid range torque, and my friend actually thinks it has more than the FJR (I am not sure if I agree). One thing that confuses the issue is that the Concours has a six speed...

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

They added one on the left for '10. But they eliminated the one on the top. There is room for one on the right side, but I guess that would have been asking too much.

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

I agree. Like I've said - the FJR is still a great bike. I honestly hope they update it a bit in the next year or two, but keep the things I liked about it. I would probably go back to another one.

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

I had to laugh, the guys on the Concours forum wanted a link to the other two as well. Honestly, all three forums have had nothing but nice things to say. That says a lot about the bikes and a lot about the class of folks on the forums. https://forum.concours.org/index.php?topic=64439.0...

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

Yes Mike, that is him. I remember you as well. In fact, wasn't it your house that I met Barry five years ago when I had my ST1300? I'll tell him you said hello. All I can comment on now is oil and gear rear gear oil changes - we did that over the weekend and they are very easy on the...

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

First a little info to help understand where I'm coming from and what's important to me in a bike. I'm 57 years old, started riding in 1971. I rode seriously for about 16 years after that, including about three years of roadracing in the early/mid '80's. I'm also a huge car nut, and a huge speed...

    2k worth of performance/handling mods?

I plan to do a more comprehensive write-up in the next few days, but for now let me give you some food for thought. I've got a 2006 FJR with 42,000 miles on it (for sale!) and a 2010 Concours with 700 miles on it. Please understand before I go any further - I absolutely love the FJR and am not...

Test Ride Nightmare!! Could use some advice please...

Not that I expect many folks to care, but this is the last time I'm looking at this thread. Why? I'm getting nauseated by the number of people who think you can sign a contract but then not live up to what you signed. You think you can wreck someone elses bike and take ZERO responsibility for...

Test Ride Nightmare!! Could use some advice please...

I've bought so many new vehicles in my life that it's somewhat embarrassing. I've been to so many dealers, and test drove so many of them.... At the point of a test drive, it is very common to not having discussed specifics of a deal. At that point, most people are test driving to see if they...

Test Ride Nightmare!! Could use some advice please...

Good post. But to your comment above, don't forget that if the OP doesn't buy the bike, the dealer is stuck with a bike that is still being sold as a new bike, but now they have to disclose that its been wrecked. So even if the bike is rebuilt to look exactly like a new bike, it is very likely...
