Beware of exhaust ports that don't have an even flat black coating. If they look too clean it may be a ticker that had the exhaust ports cleaned to get rid of the shiny oil.

Think about it. If water didn't dissolve hair spray girls would be spraying glue on their heads. Do a test, let it dry and put water on it. Turns very slippery before it completely goes away.

While hair spray has been used for many years for installing hand grips if they get soaked in the rain they will slip right off or slip when you twist.

You will find the clutch soak works best with light cold weight oil like Rotella 5W-40. If your gasket sticks to the cover plate, like mine and others have, you can leave the old gasket on and just use a light coat of gasket sealer. I like Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket.

To the OP, you said you had a Suzuki. Have you ridden a SV650? On the SV forum the guys kid it's a girls bike because so many girls own them. I have one with a Corbin seat that gives it a low seat height. Exceptional bike and a lot of fun.

If you use a ratchet type hold down around the circumference of the tire it widens the tire and makes it easier to seat.

I think the FJR trans is excellent. Smooth shifts are a matter of getting used to the way the engine changes speed when unloaded.
