Blowing main fuse - need some additional input

Hey everyone, been a long time since I posted here.  I'm having a repeat problem with blowing the main 50 Amp fuse on my 05 FJR ABS.  The bike has just over 200,000 km on it and is ridden fairly hard, tend to get the front wheel in the air once a day. Yes I know that's bad.  Also have pulled the...

Will there be a 2017 CFR?

Hey everyone, I haven't been on this forum in a few years and about 70,000 miles. I'm located in NB and have been around Nova Scotia many times. Lots of great places to ride from Amherst including a look around PEI bridge and ferry, Advocate Harbour, Sunrise Trail, Cabbot Trail, etc. Might be...

6500 RPM and it goes crazy

I know clutch is near end of life but even if I go slow up to 6500 RPM it does the same thing. So I'll pull off the TPS and have a closer look.

6500 RPM and it goes crazy

You can actually test it just by putting the bike in diagnostic mode. As you rotate the throttle it will show you a reading from I think about 3 to 100. However that's when stationary and I suspect when the bike is running I'm getting vibrations that add to the bad circuit.

6500 RPM and it goes crazy

Looking for some advice/confirmation of my thoughts. Bike is working excellent after engine being pulled, freeing up the cold start valves, TBS and a good trip coast to coast and back. But riding today as it revs up to 6000 RPM it works great and smooth. As soon as I hit 6500 it jumps around...

Did anybody here belong to this FJR?

I thought in the US, you had to pass title on for the bike which would have all the previous owners. I had this when I bought my FJR in the US and brought back to Canada. Following week did a little google on owners name, called him up and asked questions. Felt good knowing how much he cared...

    Engine swap: any advice?

After I put my engine together (including PAIR mod) I was unable to do a TBS. Fought with it all season. Turned out to be the the fast idle valve was stuck open. Caused it to pop a lot on decelerating and TBS would not sync. Able to get a screw driver down there and pry but wouldn't budge...

    Engine swap: any advice?

Best of luck Aasland. It's a proud moment when you start that thing up again. Not many have pulled, fixed internals or rebuilt an FJR engine. It gives you a whole lot more confidence that you can handle a problem on the road.

    Boneheaded Bike Drops

What sticks in my mind is the almost drops. A few times where the kick stand wasn't fully extended but bike was in gear, rolled forward enough for the gear to hold i back and still balance on the kick stand even though it was pointing in the wrong direction. Causes a moment of panic.

    Boneheaded Bike Drops

1st time bike was new, steep chip seal rode and thought I should turn around before getting to the top. Should have gone to the top flat part and turned around. Left Frame slide all scratched up. 2nd time, on a pier in Jacksonville after travelling a full tank of gas on day 6 of a trip...

    Engine swap: any advice?

Having replaced 2nd gear and such on my 2005, it sounds like solution to go from broken bike to fixed bike is like most of our rides from Point A to Point B, (the longest possible way around). A couple of things that I went through in doing my transmission after bending a shifting fork. - Rear...

East coast routing ideas for 10 day ride in late Sept. 50/60/70 ride

I live in New Brunswick and have gone pretty much all the way South 4 times and partially South numerous times. Here's some of my thoughts. - Gaspe - Did an iron butt up there last June. Took 24 hours to do the 1,000 miles from Saint John because of the traffic in Quebec. Very pretty. Head...

Route a Course on PC, Then Upload to Iphone

Well some people like to collect devices on the front of their bike like it was a pawn shop. I like having just an iphone. tunes, phone, map, speedometer, etc.

Have you or will you be in an accident?

Although I've done 125,000km on the FJR and voted that I hadn't been in an accident. I don't count falling over at stand still because I slipped on sand, nor do I count the 7-8 times I've been down on the dirt bike since I got it 3,000km ago. Dirt biking is akin to playing in the mud,
