    My worst ride to date

Really sorry to read about your aborted trip. Thank goodness you weren't hurt worse. The CA-1 down and back was one of the wife and I's best rides. We were so lucky. Everything about it was fantastic. Weather was perfect. Having been a riding instructor I remember a motorcycle safety poster...

Motorcycle For Sale 2005 FJR 1300 ABS Blue with trailer For Sale

80,000km (about 50k miles) on the bike. I bought a new battery and tried to install it. Ran into a problem described by others. The size of the battery is critical. The new one was identical in every spec except width. Slightly wider. As a result the new battery did not fit in the tray. Sits too...

Motorcycle For Sale 2005 FJR 1300 ABS Blue with trailer For Sale

The battery is not dead - it was pulled and put on maintenance. The bike was delivered without it. If there's any issue with it I will be replacing it with a new one.

    Need to ship a bike

Thanks to those that have contributed to this thread. I am looking at the possibility of riding down the west coast from Vancouver to LA. Home is north of Toronto CA and I don't want to ride all the way out west this time - not enough vacation days. So, I'd like to ship the bike to Vancouver...

    maintain multiple batteries during winter

If I pull the batteries and store them at home they'd be in my winter-cold garage. That seems to defeat having them with the bikes in warm storage. Snow flurries forcast for tomorrow morning. :ohwell:

    maintain multiple batteries during winter

To get the longest life out of this type of battery is it better to let it discharge a bit and recharge (would this simulate normal - un-stored - use) or remove all possible drains and just top it up occasionally? And is it any different from the old unsealed battery from my SRX. I have not...

    maintain multiple batteries during winter

"leaving a tender on the FJR battery all Winter will shorten its life (it did mine). These glassmat batteries do not respond to a constant trickle (even from the SMART chargers) the same as the old lead/acid ones did. That's what my local battery expert told me (after the fact - natch!) "...

    maintain multiple batteries during winter

I'll be maintaining two bikes and a Spyder. The Spyder is not mine. Can I pull the battery from the FJ or is it better to leave it in? The charger/tender I have is an automatic unit originally for marine use but has been fine for cars and bikes. What is a good tender if I get a second one for...

    maintain multiple batteries during winter

I was really trying to be considerate, lazy and cheap. I have a friend with an industrial business who has offered to let me store my bikes in his place. I don't want to bug him too much over checking the batteries. If the storage location is heated, how often during the winter would I have to...
