Greetings from South-Central New York State

Welcome, from about 40 miles northeast of you on I-88. Lots of good riding around here. Still discovering, been here for about 6 months. Cheers!

    Mirrors for Gen1

Never had an issue dipping a shoulder to see behind until a day ride with my dad a couple of months ago keeping tabs on him. Planning a cross country trip with him for his 80th this spring so picked up a pair of Emgo’s. Fitment is good, optics are OK. Super nice to just shift an eye to check in.

    Update/resolved & thx. —> Tire mount / balance weight(s) question

Took me a couple of weeks to roll mounted/balanced wheels w/12 1/4 oz weights (8 1 side, 4 opposite) on jack stands then install and ride. All good, just wasn’t satisfied with that balance vs. history of always 4 1/4 oz weights so had balanced at another shop. 4 1/4 oz weights. Couple hundred...

    Update/resolved & thx. —> Tire mount / balance weight(s) question

Thanks Bill, understood. If I had the equipment in my shop to mount and balance myself, I would have. I know I can just srtap 'em on and go for a test ride, prefer not to before just checking in to hear what, perhaps others, may have experienced. Thx.

    Update/resolved & thx. —> Tire mount / balance weight(s) question

Don't quite know what to make of this and am interested in forum members advice / perspective. I picked up a new set of Road 6 GT's from a Cycle Gear Shop, pulled my wheels and dropped them off for a mount/balance at their new shop. Picked them up today and wasn't crazy about the wheel...

Tis the Season for Battery Failures

Not for nothing but… Battery Tender always. 4 years into my 2nd on my original ‘06 and only replaced the 1st b/c I happened upon a freebie. Still have the old battery jacked into an old Buell which is now finally about toast.

    I dropped her again.

Adding to “you’re not the only one”. I too dropped my ‘06 pulling an uphill U turn on a particularly high crowned road with loaded bags, top box and pillion. I was late to the gate at a state park I’d planned to buzz thru so was faced with a $5 admission. Instead of taking a pause and think...

Crush washer / oil drain bolt

Hope I didn't miss this in my search . . . Figured I'd replace the oil drain bolt crush washer with an oil change this eve and am not sure which side of the new washer is up. Is it the rounded/fat side toward the pan or down toward the bolt head? Can't really tell from the old crushed washer...

    Tire pressure question . . .

OK, seems to make the most sense (easy way) to me to be a tad more vigilant and maintain tire pressure while cold . . . will do. Thanks all for the input! :) L . . .

    Tire pressure question . . .

Hi all, Measured cold tire pressure in garage before a ride yesterday and was 2 lbs low front and rear. Rode 5 miles to nearest gas/air station and the short ride brought me up to spec - 39/42 - front/rear. Is it wise to add a couple of PSI each to match the cold difference, leave it as is...
