Wetern Montana, ID, WA ride advice

Thank you guys so much! You confirmed my fears regarding Glacier - the right time and it would be great...but I actually will likely do this in a car with the wife (and my camera gear). I feel a lot more comfortable putting Bear Tooth as the plan....I am feeling some pressure as I am doing the...

Wetern Montana, ID, WA ride advice

Trip next week... If I only have time for one - do I choose Bear Tooth Pass or Road to the Sun? For those familiar with Washington State - how does HWY 20 (the North Cascades Pass part) compare with HWY 410 / Mt Rainier to Paradise to Yakima? Any suggestions for "must dos"? Limitations are...

    Larger Windscreen or Not

Well, I hear folks post what I thought was hyperbole when they find the right windshield....wow they are not kidding. The Rifle is a game changer for me, I honestly can't even believe it. So much better than I could have expected - it is quieter at any speed, I can get a dead still pocket with...

    Oil Filter Purolator 14612

I have not, all mine are concave/innies. That said there is a thread which discusses Bosch 3323 having the same issue as the Puralator....some are showing as convex/outys, those also have a different/sticker or label. I had a box of 6 come in about 2-3 months ago and all are old style /...

    Oil Filter Purolator 14612

I have been using the Bosch 3323. It's black with an easily removable sticker. Good enough ratings, no issues. For me it also works with my Honda Civic...so I ordered 6 at once and was able to hit under $5 shipped. (one of those auto places for $3.XX each with $10 flat shipping). All of mine...

    Clutch acting up a little

That might be, but to be honest, clutch soak and clutch bleed has fixed a lot of issues for folks. If no one complained, no one would post the fixes and my bike would be a shitty shifter and less fun to drive.

    Clutch acting up a little

I just posted this in another area...but I was amazed at what a clutch bleed did for me: I have completely solved all my shifting issues by replacing the fluid and ensuring proper bleed in the process. I was getting clunks going into first, sometimes the "clack clack clack clunk"..really...

Why Should I Purge Brakes, ABS & Clutch Regularly?

Not sure if this was the right place, but didn't want to start a new thread. I wanted to provide my feedback on the value of the purge and bleed of clutch fluid. I have completely solved all my shifting issues by replacing the fluid and ensuring proper bleed in the process. I was getting...

Will alot of rain ruin your bike?

Like many others I have a light nelson rigg cover. I use it to keep off the UV more than anything. Also if the bike isn't soaked and more rain is coming I put it on as well.

    Larger Windscreen or Not

There is so much variation based on torso height, helmet, seating position, arm length. I like stock fine at low settings to get above the turbulence...but loud as hell without something around the neck (Kilimanjaro jacket and RS-1 helmet is ok). V stream can be quiet...but only good for me...

    Mid Trip Tire Change

This was me...but easy riding in cool weather got me 6000 on the stocker. Put PR4s on....insane it was a different bike for turn in.

    Advice on Possible FJR Purchase

I've own motorcycles all my life, would commute a little here and there....got my FJR...commute every day above freezing. Every day. Love it. The hard bags / luggage is a game changer - love it and the liners. Also the bike is easy to keep clean (vs a v twin cruiser), adjustable windshield...

Helmets - looking for a new one

Bell RS-1 with transition shield. Look for older graphics to get it for about $200, then add the shield. This has a great double neck roll, high quality material, transition shield is probably the greatest single thing I have every seen on a helmet - game changer for me. It has nice large...

    Best bag liners?

Factory liners (gen 2) are excellent bags. They have a waterproofing/resistant coating on the inside, fit the hard case perfectly, shoulder strap, etc. Maybe I am odd, but I like them so much that I even use one as my gym bag when I am not riding the bike. I use mine every day as a commuter...

Help - air in cooling system? Overheats quickly

FYI - I think the easiest way to change is just remove the single bottom/rear fairing bolt (right side of the bike version of the one you remove for oil changes), then set up a shield, like thin flexible plastic (I used my daughters old 3 ring binder cover) to direct flow down (fluid comes out...
