No I punched the holes before installation . I slipped a peice of wood through the grip and used a 10mm punch to punch the holes.

It's difficult to tell but it can't hurt.

I puched holes in my grip puppies to let the heat through

Start the bike on the centre stand and if the oil level is within the dots you're fine
