    accelerated tire wear over time

Love it! I'm too poor and cheap to to not squeeze every mile I can get out of disposables like tires. and the FJR is just my long distance and motorcycle camping bike. The Buell UlyXT is the hooligan twisties bike...but then that's what it's designed for.

    accelerated tire wear over time

I'm just going with what the owners manual says for pressure: 36 and 42. 12k on pennsyltucky asphalt!? Inconceivable!

    accelerated tire wear over time

I've got enough miles on enough tires on enough different bikes now to notice a disturbing trend about tire wear. That is, for the first half of the tread depth the tire wear is extremely slow, but wear accelerates nearer the end of the tread depth, consistently. I'm a very suspicious chap to...

Onboard Computer AVG MPG quit working

I've not been that lucky; consistently 2-2.5MPG higher than actual fuel economy...weird. OTOH, I am getting a real 50+MPG when I tour (in sport mode). I guess that's something.

    Sighting in South Western PA

Rt 30 is Main Street in every little podunk town it goes through. In the country it's nice though; just too many speed zones every ten miles.

Onboard Computer AVG MPG quit working

What do you guys think of the accuracy of the MPG calculator? Mine consistently reads about 2.5MPG higher than what my real economy turns out to be at refill. Is that pretty consistent with what others noticed?

    Here I Go Again...

Everybody calls them mountain goats but they are bighorn sheep. Did you play with any Picahs? They are squeaky little guinea pig critters that live in the rocks above treeline on the mountains. The Marmots also squeak when you get close to them. Are they still charging to drive up Mt. Evans...

    Here I Go Again...

I had the fortune to live a bit north of Denver in the 90s and until the dotcom bust hit in 2001. Nearly killed me to have to sell my house and move back east. I've made attempts to move back out there over the years but now that I know what it costs to live out there, and as an older...

Will try to locate somebody with correct replacement blanks and a key cutting machine tomorrow.

fragile original keys - need new ones for 2015 gen3

OK guys. It's a 2015 FJR (gen 3) US model...Are we 100% positive that the 2015 US is not chipped? Seems like an "upgrade" they would have worked into the gen3 bikes. Regarding being fragile...these keys on the 2015 are the most fragile of any key I've ever used. Since the lockup on the...

fragile original keys - need new ones for 2015 gen3

I thought about that and it may end up being an option but I'm hoping for a "right" solution first.

fragile original keys - need new ones for 2015 gen3

One key broke and one left... I purchased my 2015 gen3 bike used (early 2017) and got two original keys and a metal ingot (not a key, but a small metal wafer) that they said was the master to program other keys. Being that the factory keys are crap, I've already bent one of the two to the...

    Here I Go Again...

Watch the west side of RMNP when you get into Grand Lake. I got Boss Hogged by the Sheriffs Dept there once: stop sign obscured by tree branches at an intersection where the merging road was given right of way. The cop who issued the citation didn't show up for the hearing, I had photos of the...

    Here I Go Again...

So envious. I have been kicking around heading to Colorado myself, from pa, but I fractured my radius forearm bone (non bike related) so need to keep the riding on the light side for a while. I lived in denver in the 90s and miss the rocky mtn high. Do stop and smell the sage on the western...

Robert Pirsig, Author of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Passes Away at the Age of 88

I tend to agree more with El-Toro. I didn't get anything out of the book, although Zen and the Art of Archery did speak to me, but I read that first, and considered the motorcycle book to be a cheap rip-off by someone who really didn't understand, and who probably ate a bit too much peyote...
