Well I just got back home (Mpls area) from attending the finish and the banquet. I was lucky enough to score a ticket for the banquet. I must say, the IBA peeps, sure know how to put on a first class affair. Huge congratulations to James Owen for what he has accomplished. Truly an amazing rider.

I see several riders will get to enjoy a spirited ride on Interstate 70 east bound later this afternoon. That should be fun.

8:20 pm and there are still some riders in upstate NY and NY City. Yikes! They will have some hard riding ahead of them. Hopefully they have already taken their rest bonus.

Pretty certain that I will be. Also heading out after work on Thursday, meaning that I won't arrive until most riders are back at the barn. Mostly want to see the folks later that afternoon and evening. Then hopefully ride back with some of the MN contingent.

    Hello from Minnesota

Welcome Bumlinger to the forum, and welcome to that which is the FJR experience. Seeing all these fellow MN peeps posting, I might have to consider reviving a Tech Day. Now that would be a proper welcoming.

    BRP in 1 day

Simple answer...Yes. A day is 24 hrs. Would I have enjoyed? Probably not. Had I started at the north end of Skyline at the same time that I did the BRP, I would have missed out on riding the south end of BRP in the daylight. Riding at night I find enjoyable, but I miss out on so much of...

    BRP in 1 day

....and so, I had a great ride. 11 days on the road. Well actually only 7 days; 4 days were spent visiting with my son and his family in VA. I managed to stretch out what would normally be a 2200 mile trip into 5750 miles. I took a few detours as one tends to on a motorbike. BRP! As I...

    Thousand mile day.

For some it's a "notch" on the belt, for others, it's just the way they ride. I still remember the newspaper article I read in the Mpls Star Tribune just months after buying an 05 FJR, that described this group of riders that rode long distances just for the joy of it. To be a member, one had...

Little under 13 hrs. Started at the north end around 6:15am and finished just outside Cherokee at 7:03. I'll write more when I get home after the weekend. Time permitting, Kitty Hawk tomorrow.

I want to thank you all for the great input and I think I learned a great deal of what to expect. Finishing up with my packing and downloading to the GPSs. Little detour up through the Adirondacks and expect to roll into Virginia Sat afternoon. I'll fill you folks in on how it went. Thanks again!

Won't have the time to read it as I head out this Thursday. But if I see it at a store in KH, I'll be sure to pick it up. The brothers have always amazed me, former bicycle shop owners I believe.

Well I can't say I'm a real big fan of fog myself either. So is the fog more prevalent this time of year, or does that not matter? Also a bit curious about what to expect on Hwy(?) 12 going from Kitty Hawk down to Hatteras. Looks like a pretty slow going road, almost residential in a lot of...
