this past weekend I rebuilt my forks and replaced my rear shock.
after completing the work, I found this mysterious steel bushing on the garage floor where i had been working.
the inside diameter is 1/2" the outside diameter is 11/16" and the length is 5/8"
it had a coat of grease on it, so i pulled the rear shock back off, but, couldn't find any missing bushings.
everything seems to be functioning, but, it must belong somewhere.
any one recognize it?

Just what kind of ruler you got there? Did you take that photo in a mirror?
My recollection is that bushing for the top right shock mount is green.

Maybe your new shock had this already? I find it hard to believe that you could install it properly without this bushing in place...you would surely notice I think

Apparently, I pulled the bolt head into the hole for the bushing.. just enough to hold the bolt in place. I both reassembled the bike without this bushing and rode it about 50 miles.
