I am finally biting the bullet and heading out to Cherhola Skyway on my way to Quantico. The trip will be approximately 6,056 miles round trip. I currently have approximately 6,700 miles on a set of Road 5's and will probably need to replace those while riding through Hamilton, AL up to Alcoa, TN. Does anyone have a good shop or dealership along that route that I could contact to have a set ready to spoon on before I get to Cherhola. I also want to be able to have them broke in a little prior to hitting the tail. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There a several motorcycle parts stores, service shops and dealers around the Tellico Plains area just W of the Cherahola Pkw - do a search. Also a HD dealer as you head to the pkwy if that works for your.
If you want someone with good service and knowledge, check out Wheeler's in Robinsville TN just on the E side of the Cherahola Pkwy.
You may want to call to check stock, or you can order and drop ship your pref tire and he will install it.

How long do tires usually last for you? Do you ride in the US west or the US east? US east roads are generally not as hard on tires. Do you ride hard? I rode a set of Bridgestone T31s in an 11,000 mile loop from Seattle through Phoenix up through NY into Canada, out to PEI and back across the US Canadian border. Half US west, half US east. Just sayin'...you'd be asking 12,700 miles from your PR5s. I've gotten 15,000 from PR2s.

Why not put new tires on before you start your trip? That would save lots of hassle while on the road.
Probably because I don't want to waste good tread. I have gotten over 10K on a set of Road 5's in the past but I'm just hedging my bets. I may be able to make the whole trip, but I just want to know what's out there in case I find I need to. Always good to hit the road informed. I'll be going through Amarillo so could replace them there while I lay over at my Sister In Laws for a couple of days. I did my first service there at Sharp's after I bought the bike in Jefferson City, MO. Not sure about that place though. I think they bent my shift rod somehow. The bike was working great all the way there, after I left I had shift pedal issues. Later found that the rod was bent inward. Of course, the dealership in San Diego that I took it to blamed it on me and wouldn't do a warranty repair on it.

These guy helped me out a few years ago. I was traveling through the area and realized I needed a new set of tires. They understand I was a priority and got it done while I waited. I bought the shop some pizza for making time for me.
