Good day! My name is Rob and I just got my first FJR. A beautiful 2013 model with 16k on it. Put some new tires on and took my first real ride. Love it! I'm in north Georgia and love riding the roads up here. Got a few others in the stable as well. 2003 Harley Road King, 2015 KTM EXC 350 (for the trails and Forest roads. Also a 1974 Triumph Trident. Thanks for the add!

Hey Rob Papa54 here, brother. I too have a 2013 "A" model. Bought it used in late 13 with 2832 miles on it. Now going on 67,000 miles and still diggin it. I'm 63 years old and have done two long trips, one nearly 6000 mile and my last was in 2016 and 7835 miles. A put bar risers on my bike and a Sargent Saddle. I find it easy to ride 6-700 miles a day if I want. My secret is a good set of sound canceling ear buds so I can listen to music , Nav , and an Audible book if I want. I've covered 24 states so far and now that I'm retired hope to do more. You're going to really enjoy your machine Rob, if you load it up and eat miles. So much to see in this country and the FJR is hard to beat for that.

Hi Papa, thanks for the details. At 6'3" I feel like I need the risers also. Which ones did you use? My bike also has a Sargent seat. Rode 230 miles today and the butt was fine!

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Heli-bar risers, and I was surprised, they really made the bike feel more comfortable and easy to control. By now I'm betting you've had a chance to clock several long days on a trip or No ? BTW, I'm always looking for ways to improve my visibility and night riding vision. I've been keeping up on the latest in LED headlight bulbs, but up until now it seems no one has been able to make a unit that works correctly with the reflector housings on the GEN III. There may be light at the end of the tunnel now, companies are coming out with 9003 led mini projector assemblies that seem to have promise in GEN III fjr's. I'm going to keep up with any new developments on the subject btw. side note ; The actor Treat Williams 71, died the other day. He lived in Vermont and was riding his 1986 Honda Shadow and a guy made a left turn in front of him. I've been riding 45 years and learned early that the more visible you are the less likely you are to end up a statistic. Ride safe Rob.....

Thanks Papa. I have logged a little over 1k miles. I will order the heli risers as soon as i have some time. Thanks for the info regarding the led lighting. I was sorry to hear about Treat Williams as well.
Best Regards, Rob

Welcome from one new member (and owner) to another.
I've enjoyed the North Georgia area and riding from Barber to Blairsville and the Gauntlet. I've spent a lot of time in Toccoa (lived there too) and North Georgia College in Dahlonega riding my Triumph Trident (1998) which I still have and ride to Daytona every year. I've also enjoyed other bikes (being the Ole Timer that I am) as well including some vintage CZ250 & 500 dirt bikes, CBR600 Kaw EX500 and HD 1200 custom. No one like to hear me spew about motorcycle so I' using this forum.
Thank you for that.
