I know many of you don't replace these, but I don't second guess Mother Yamaha on this issue and put a new one every time on all three locations.
I got to thinking about trying to locate another source for these; The cheapest I can find for the actual Yamaha versions is on fjrgoodies.com @ $1.07 each. My local dealer gets $1.94 and they give me %10 off that.
I thought that maybe these were available through sources like McMaster-Carr, but no, they don't offer M14 crush washers at all, and the ones they do are the one piece vs the Yamaha style two-piece. I can find lots of 1 piece style on the 'net including many on ebaymotors:

But no 2 piece style - except I did find a Dorman washer that looks to be the same @ AdvanceAuto albeit at 3 times the cost of fjrgoodies:

Now, before I get raked for this - I know that cost-wise, it's not a huge deal. I guess sometimes I have too much time on my hands and get curious because I know that Yamaha, and Dorman for that matter, get these from somewhere. Especially since I found the Dorman version, that tells me it's an off the shelf part, not something made special for Yamaha. My original thought was to buy a pack of 100 as I do put alot of miles on my bike and change the oil all the time, both engine and diff. It seems I'm always short one of those washers even after buying them a dozen at a time from my local dealer.
Any thoughts?
I did go back and search fjrforum; the threads I found all mainly argued the replace vs not; as I said before - I'm firmly in the "replace" camp, and I undertorque to 28 ft.lbs with a torque wrench. When I have to do an oil change on the road - like I did last month in Richland, WA, I bring an extra crush washer with me + ~.23 qt of Risalone, then buy the filter & T6 oil from whoever, and "guesstimate" the torque with my 3/8 ratchet for that one time. My belief is that those threads are - very - crucial to be not stripped and using new washers w/correct torque is important. Using a new washer is cheap insurance and being the cheap bastoid that I am, I'd like to get them cheaper! That's 3 cheaps in one sentence ya know!
