    Excessive fuel consumptuon

Everyone knows you should have replied within three seconds with the correct fix out of like 500 possible issues

    Error 14 - repeat issue

I won't try to fool anyone that I'm an awesome mechanic lol. I didn't use any solvents, I just blew it out with compressed air. Yes, big thanks to everyone here for that. I'd have no idea at all

    Error 14 - repeat issue

I had a look at that. I managed to get into the diagnostics menu and then realized I was further in over my head than a guy pitching a pyramid scheme on shark tank. I hit a couple buttons and the fuel pump kept turning off lol. Is there a way to just read stored codes? I'll read the writeup...

    Error 14 - repeat issue

No stored fault codes. Once the bike figures itself out, the "14" goes away. If there's some kind of magical dance to get it to show more codes, I can try that.

    Error 14 - repeat issue

Been an interesting week... I dropped my keys while riding home, curse me and the new fangled BMW keyless ignition... Of my three vehicles, all three vehicles keys were on the ring, and the old dusty FJR1300 is the only bike I actually got with a spare key. Yes I should have made spares, I know...

Drive train "crashing" when engaged on a cold engine

Mine does it too. This bike's gearbox loves to just randomly sound like someone's chucking 10mm sockets at a metal toolbox. I worried too until I heard a brand new 2022 one do it lol

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Yeah... I'm sure the amount of vehicles damaged by people using incorrect fluids is like 25x less than vehicles damaged by "lifetime fluids" and just not being able to check the level of or quality of the fluids. OEMs don't give a shart about us using the wrong fluid, and heck, the wrong fluid...

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

What coolant do you run? I just put the advance auto asian whatever in my bike. I knew about the no silicate thing before, so hopefully I made sure it didn't have it...

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Yeah. Bah. I only have enough time to be a barfly in one internet forum. I'll take care of it when I get to it. I don't expect real advice about that here

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

It's a vehicle made after 2010 (2018 Tacoma) so it probably just says everything is lifetime just like every other vehicle. Transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, differentials, freaking motor oil lol. My transmission doesn't even have a dip stick.

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

I see. I've heard it also becomes acidic after about 3-5 years and should be changed even if it's clean. My truck is about there now.

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

When I purchased it, my bike had off brand coca cola for coolant. No, I'm not kidding

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

I rode a brand new versys 650 at the demo day a couple weeks ago. Holy freaking hell, I've never been so eager to get back on my own old ass bike. I could whine about that 12,600$ bike for a while...

    Bike Wont Start

Forgive me for adding fuel to the fire. Okay so hang on. What for slow Pappimus Maximus leather daddy bike is "bulletproof" to you? Seriously though, we have bikes here with 500k miles. Was yours just not taken care of? I'm sure it'd sound like a chitty chitty bang bang in the "free" box at a...

    Bike Wont Start

For sure... I would not take this lying down. Unless I actually ran the wrong gas (like I currently am, the timing of this thread and my E15 thread is impeccable...) I'd be getting the bike back and going somewhere else and threatening things and all kinds of unhappy times. My gut just tells me...

Is Yamalube 10 w 40 OK in Northern Illinois?

Yeah I pretty much always leave mine in gear. The 10mm to the side of a toolbox noise is just part of the charm to me at this point lol. I run the cheapest and oldest bike in my group so stuff like that is funny, as long as it doesn't break.

    Wow....that's freaking screwed up...

Is Yamalube 10 w 40 OK in Northern Illinois?

Huh. Good to know. I know in neutral it's quieter and smoother when I pull the clutch in... I'll have to experiment

Is Yamalube 10 w 40 OK in Northern Illinois?

I also run Shell Rotella T6, 5w-40 or 15w-40 but ideally 5W in the winter. Has the JASO stuff, good for motorcycles. Though when I shift from N to 1st gear it sounds like someone tossing a 10mm socket at the side of a toolbox. But so does my friend's 2022 with Motul oil...? Everything else is...

Fault Code 14 Gen II - Solved

Maybe next time I'm in there I'll use q tips and rubbing alcohol or something. I didn't touch the sensor at all. This might have been risky but I did blow compressed air into the throttle body tubes where the tubes went. One of them might have had something plugging it...? Sound seemed to...
