I've had that happen twice. New bat. Next day wouldn't start. Jumped, got it back to the shop, and it was a DOA on the shelf.

It "turns down" all sounds equally so anything ambient will be there if you listen for it.

I've found that ear monitors let me turn down the volume to nearly off. With ear plugs and speakers, I tend to have to crank up the volume to get through the plugs... not good IMHO.

And stem mounted variants have an issue with weight-on-the-stem. Yes?
