    Hello from Minnesota

Welcome Bumlinger to the forum, and welcome to that which is the FJR experience. Seeing all these fellow MN peeps posting, I might have to consider reviving a Tech Day. Now that would be a proper welcoming.

    BRP in 1 day

Simple answer...Yes. A day is 24 hrs. Would I have enjoyed? Probably not. Had I started at the north end of Skyline at the same time that I did the BRP, I would have missed out on riding the south end of BRP in the daylight. Riding at night I find enjoyable, but I miss out on so much of...

    BRP in 1 day

....and so, I had a great ride. 11 days on the road. Well actually only 7 days; 4 days were spent visiting with my son and his family in VA. I managed to stretch out what would normally be a 2200 mile trip into 5750 miles. I took a few detours as one tends to on a motorbike. BRP! As I...

    Thousand mile day.

For some it's a "notch" on the belt, for others, it's just the way they ride. I still remember the newspaper article I read in the Mpls Star Tribune just months after buying an 05 FJR, that described this group of riders that rode long distances just for the joy of it. To be a member, one had...

    BRP in 1 day

Little under 13 hrs. Started at the north end around 6:15am and finished just outside Cherokee at 7:03. I'll write more when I get home after the weekend. Time permitting, Kitty Hawk tomorrow.

    BRP in 1 day

I want to thank you all for the great input and I think I learned a great deal of what to expect. Finishing up with my packing and downloading to the GPSs. Little detour up through the Adirondacks and expect to roll into Virginia Sat afternoon. I'll fill you folks in on how it went. Thanks again!

    BRP in 1 day

Won't have the time to read it as I head out this Thursday. But if I see it at a store in KH, I'll be sure to pick it up. The brothers have always amazed me, former bicycle shop owners I believe.

That actually is near the top of my list of sites to see.

    BRP in 1 day

Well I can't say I'm a real big fan of fog myself either. So is the fog more prevalent this time of year, or does that not matter? Also a bit curious about what to expect on Hwy(?) 12 going from Kitty Hawk down to Hatteras. Looks like a pretty slow going road, almost residential in a lot of...

    BRP in 1 day

Well the thing is Whooshka, I wasn't asking for advise about how I should ride the BRP. I simply asked if it could be ridden in about 15 hrs. It's all about reading comprehension my friend.

    BRP in 1 day

Ross, you are correct. BRP is 469 miles and Skyline is 105 miles. I had looked up the distance earlier in the day of my OP, but apparently I screwed the pooch when I typed 650. Actually I think what has happened is as I age, my brain remembers one thing but my body is telling me that 469...

    BRP in 1 day

Thanks for bringing that up Griff. I have to admit, checking beforehand about road construction status prior to a trip has never been my strong suit. Having just checked it out, it appears that that section may be open soon; but that other areas might be getting some work done. Backed up...

    BRP in 1 day

A huge thanks to those of you who took the time to respond; and I was actually able to pick up on a few useful bits of info. However I also have to just shrug off most of you alls' ill informed judgements. Some of you must just assume I get a lot of vacation time, like perhaps you might, or...

    BRP in 1 day

So I have a question for my SE FJR family. I am planning a trip to VA to visit with one of my sons and his family. During the visit I plan on making myself scarce for a couple of days before getting back to them. So I am wondering, is it possible to ride the entire length of the Blue Ridge...

Looking for fellows riders in Minnesota

If you had shown up Swollen, that indeed would have been a pleasant surprise. It's been a while guy. Delanos Pizza I believe? After the museum we're headed to Larry's Lookout for lunch. Lots of nice riding in that area as you know.

Looking for fellows riders in Minnesota

Well about a half dozen of us (not all from this forum) are riding out to Elmer's Car and Toy Museum in SW WI on the 30th. You're welcome to ride along. Same goes for you Torchsport.

Elmer's Car & Toy Museum - Last Yr

Just a heads up that this will be the last year that Elmer's will be open to the public. It's a little known museum in SW WI near so many great roads that SW Wisconsin is known for. You'll have to go to their website to find which weekends they will be open, but I have always felt that the ride...
