    Cutting the stock shield

I cut 4 inches off of a stock shield using another stock shield as my drawing template. I first put several layers of good masking tape, front and back, several inches on either side of where I was going to make the cut. I then drew the line I would folow with my band saw. Medium blade is the...

    Look What Followed Me Home

When I lived in Florida we called them Black Racers. Don't know the real name though. They would put on quite a show when you got near them, but they were harmless to humans. Used to find them sunbathing on my pool deck. Greater than 6 feet was common.

    Keep it??

Don't feel bad, I too struggle with the thought of getting a different bike (would love a ZX-14) but the FJR does everything a bike needs to do and does it well. I am afraid to pull the trigger on a differentt bike only to find that the grass was not greener on the other side. Making a sport...

Anyone using the Yamaha Touring replacement windshield?

Mine works good for me but I only run it in the winter to keep the cold off. I find that if I don't run it all the way up or close to it, the wind is directed straight at my helmet and things get real noisy then. It quiets things down quite a bit when all the way up but, strangely, the stock...

    Still more Garauld kudos!

I know this has been written numerous times before, but I have to say it again, Garauld ROCKS! I gouged the paint on my mirror on the chrome mirror of my wife's bike and Gary made it look all shiney and new again. The best part was the turn aroound time. I had it back in a week! Shipping...

    Custom paint color choices

Red is very cool and a great second choice, but I couldn't help going with the flat black. The best low maintenance color available and looks cool at the same time. I am surprised that all of you that are so adverse to washing your bike wouldn't jump all over having a finish like this.

    Got Mail Today....

Ditto what DrFaulken said. Sit on the couch with an ice pack for a couple of days, watch TV and enjoy the liquid refreshment of your choice. I did that and I was back to work on Monday (proceedure on Friday morning). My buddy didn't follow those instructions, went out and did as he wanted and...

    Fender Eliminator (Coming Soon)

I like the look. Where are you putting your license plate and marker light? The Law Enforcement Officers in CT are quite picky about those kinds of things. Also, is that a shortened wind shield? Looks very nice. Where did you get it?

    Grip Puppies

Have always used hairspray and have never had a problem. I have found that the liquid hairspray in a pump bottle works a little bit better than the aerosol sprays, but they both work. Like others have said, it dries like glue, and mine have never slipped.

How come belts aren't used more for final drives?

Check out the Boss Hoss belt. Although wider than the RoadStar or HD belts, it is not as wide as one would think you would need for a 385 HP small block Chevy engine. From what I have read Boss Hoss reports few, if any, belt failures. My Yamaha Warrior had a belt and I only checked it...

How many significant others ride their own bike?

Wife rides a Vulcan 500 but not as often as she should. I put more miles on the little bike than she does. Not a bad bike if you keep the RPM's up but without more saddle time her skills are not what they should be, so she doesn't keep the RPM's up and she is a little pokey when we go out...

    Fender is gone.....

Nice clean job. I rather like the look, but I all too often get caught out in liquid sunshine up here in New England. I compromised by removing everything below the license tag. My lailight sometimes picks up some extra dirt, but I don't get skunk-striped either. An effective hugger would be...

    Newest Aft defense system installed

Great installation job. At first I thought you were working on flame throwers, but this is pretty cool. I have long thought that having some sort of paint ball gun mounted inside the plastic, just above the front fender with a remote trigger for every jack*ss that cuts me off, but I ususally...

    Advice for the pillion?

I know it is usually said to have your pillion look over the shoulder in the direction you are turning, but I have found that by telling my passengers that they tend to anticipate corners and start leaning early. I have found that by telling them to pick a shoulder to look over and to maintain...

    Universal Vista Cruise

Ok. Now I am slightly more confused. The original post by C5INC showed shots of the Universal Vista cruise, but SCRider has a link for another type of Vista Cruise. Which one is recommended? Thanks.

    Universal Vista Cruise

Almost hate to ask but after quite a while spent searching and not finding the answer....here goes. What diameter handlebars does the FJR have? Vista Cruise comes in 7/8" and 1 inch. Which do I buy? (Thank goodness it is not Friday)

    Universal Vista Cruise

Thanks Radio. I'll have to look into this further.

    Universal Vista Cruise

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I am not familiar with the friction type throttle controls. In the event that you need to slow down quickly, can you rotate the throttle without disengaging the thumb lock. I am planning to do more long distance trips with the FJR and having cruise...

    Sounds pretty quick!

When I was in the dealership for my switch recall, they had one of the limited edition VMax's on the showroom floor. Apparently someone had ordered one, but had to back out of the deal. If I could have figured out how to explain to my wife that I now have a motorcycle loan where I didn't...

    Does anyone own Bohn-Armor-Pants

Got the Bohn pants this past Christmas. Have only been able to wear them when its cold out, but they are comfortable and fit under my jeans with no problems. I did notice that my knees were the only parts to ever feel cold when I rode in the winter. With the armor on, the knee pads kept my...
