    Gonna do tapered head bearings

So I'm in the middle of this also, and I agree with dcarver about AllBalls in general. However, properly set the stem bearings don't exactly see a lot of abuse on a street bike, within reason of course. My gen 1 has about 55k on it, and while there has been absolutely no wobble, even with a...

    Road to Alaska

My son and I stayed at the Boreal lodge as well just about this time 6 years ago. Very cool little area. Another guy staying there who we met in the common area was a contractor for the state DOT. He alerted us to the fact the road would be closed the following day at 7am for construction on...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Rode it to work. Probably ride it home later. :)

    What a great shot.

    Rider peg lowering brackets

I wanted to let the community know about a fellow enthusiast and retailer stepping in to fill what I perceive to be a need. A little back story… I rode a first gen Concours for about a decade, starting in 2005 when I had a pristine low mileage example virtually fall in to my lap. Shortly...

    High Bridge, Ben Howard,road research

Yup. Went out to visit family in Westport last weekend, finding some back roads south and west of Olympia. Lots of fun curves that had to be dialed back. Lots of leaves and moss in the shade. Heck, my daily trip on the Green Valley road has been slower than usual the last few weeks.

    Tenere 700 World Raid

I've been drooling over this bike since I first heard about it. If it comes to market anything close to what is shown, I'm all over it. Would've been nice to have the earlier baby Tenere available in the US too. I'm hopeful, but the DL, DRz, and KLR will have to do for now.

    Fail

Pretty easy after you've done it a couple times; not so much when you're "under pressure" on the road. Fwiw, did Alaska a few years ago with my son, up to Deadhorse, etc., no tire issues at all. BUT, I was ready. Check out adventure cycleworks in Fairbanks, awesome support for adv'ers out there.

    Canadian documents required

Got back from Alberta last week. Showed only my passport both directions.

MCL Rider Foot Peg Lowering Brackets

There is that indeed, and I know it's been bandied about, but in the mean time...... Well aware MCL is long gone, and I'm amazed no one has come up with an alternative. Been looking at it myself, as not a fan of the MCL solution, but it is a solution for the short term if able to be found.

MCL Rider Foot Peg Lowering Brackets

Throwing it out there, in case anyone has a set you're not going to put back on. Thanks.

Wanted: Front Gen 1 Seat or pan

I'd be interested in pics/price of the Russell and the front seat with foam only if the OP passes on either. Thanks.

    Alaska 2018

Congrats on a successful trip. My son and I did it 5 years ago, he on a KLR, me on my V-Strom, leaving just one week following his college graduation. Trip of a lifetime, so far. Like you, I would do it again in a heartbeat. And we had no flats in 8k miles! Rob

    Time for a new bike...

I have just shy of 100k on an '07 650 strom. I've ridden from here in the PNW to Deadhorse, down to NM, and several points all over in between. Of course it has less oomph than the 1k, but the only time I found myself wishing I had taken one of my other bikes was trying to pass semis that were...

ANNUAL PNW Tech meet #20 July 7th, 2018

Newb to the FJR will be there, and as you can tell I'm quite local. Maybe a bit loco too. ;-) Let me know if I can bring anything to help out.
