    Going to See the Eclipse?

We all know about the eclipse coming in April, right? A LOT of us will be right in the path of it, or within a very reasonable distance. You do NOT want to blow it off; it will be one of the most amazing and memorable sights you will EVER see! Don't believe me? Just watch this short TED...

    Selling? Handling Test Ride Requests

So I'll be selling my 2014 one of these days, I hope. In fact I'm "selling" it now, but so far no calls. But when I get a call, I expect somebody will want to try it out instead of handing me a wad of cash. I have a couple misgivings about that, and an appreciation for the no-test-rides rule...

Motorcycle For Sale Good Deal on Somebody Else's 2003 R11150RT

I'm leaving Weds a.m. to fly down to Tucson to pick up my 4th FJR--a super clean '09 with just 7,500 miles on the clock, and the deal's all made, so when I got a call from a friend and neighbor today offering up his bike for sale, it was too late. Darn, it would have been awful tempting. Yes...

    Seat Compatibility Between Generations

I did look on the model comparison matrix and I can't really tell from that which other years my custom seat (that works with my 2014) will fit. Seems like it would fit on ANY newer FJR, but I'd like to be sure. Thanks.

Tracer 9 GT--to Replace my FJR?

It's about time to get my last motorcycle. I figure if I get a new one now it'll still be in good shape when I'm older than Joe Biden (is now), and I don't think the '14 FJR will make it all that way. It probably would be if I spent a lot of money to fix it all up, but it would still weigh...

    Speedway Shelters

I first saw one of these at a Progressive Motorcycle Show at the San Mateo fairgrounds--sorry to say NorCal doesn't rate being on that show's circuit anymore. But the first time I saw this thing I loved it and bought it there, with free shipping when bought at the show. It's perfect for me...

    Something Cool -- Interested?

Saw this Sunday a couple blocks from home. Looked pretty familiar from a long time ago. A roomie of mine had one just a few years older back when it was brand new. Looks awful clean. He's moving out of state and wants to sell. If you can't make out the sign, it's a '76 CB 550 K. He's...

Tire Question. Car Tires. For a Car.

With all the expertise around here, figgered this was a good place to ask.  My wife took her Subaru Forester in for a random scheduled service yesterday and they told her she has a nail or something in one of the tires.  There has to be at least 20,000 miles left on that set of tires, but...

Is Anybody Offering Good Tire Deals Now?

Title says it all.  Free shipping would be sweet too.  (It's my front tire this time.)  Thanks.

    Where's That Other Forum?

There used to be some He Who Must Not Be Named kinds of people and businesses around here--don't think it's so much that way anymore, but anyway, I'm talking about FJRiders, and for the second day in a row when I try to open it up, I get some weird message that tells me "Oops!  That page doesn't...

    Anybody Tried This Stuff? ("Bondic")

I've seen ads for this magic fixer called Bondic all over the internet.   You put this liquid on something and then hit it with a UV light they sell with the bottle of the liquid and the claims are pretty extraordinary.  Like "50 times stronger than Chuck Norris" extraordinary.  Only reason it...

Know About Free Parks Passes for Vets?

This was effective Nov. 1st but some of the information on the program isn't super clear.  But the good news is, if you're a veteran, you will be able to enjoy all of the National Parks and other fee-based federal sites for FREE.  It sounds like exactly what the lifetime National Parks Pass...

15% Discount on Clearwater Lights for FJR Folks

Somebody  posted a couple days ago on the other forum that they'd seen this 15% off offer somewhere--Clearwater was calling it a "Virtual Rally" special.  But someone else posted right afterward that the deal had expired, according to their website.  But Glenn is a buddy, and he's always treated...

    Travel/Medical Evacuation Ins. Help Please

I've seen posts over the years about insurance that will haul you back home if you get messed up out of state or farther, and IIRC it was pretty reasonable.  I'll be in the UK in a few weeks and probably renting a bike a little over there (it's not primarily a biking trip), and then doing the...

Help! What the Hell Happened to that Western Gathering?

What did I miss? I've been watching (off and on) the thread about a meet somewhere out west this year--last version involved the central coast and James Burleigh in just a month from now. So now the thread is closed and I don't see an explanation or another thread. What's happening, and why...

SOLD--Motoport Kevlar Mesh Suit and Liners

Selling my full Motoport kevlar mesh suit (as the title of the thread implies) along with rain liners and warmth liners for both the jacket and the pants. The pants liner is for both rain and cold, and two different liners for the jacket--one quilted warmth liner and a separate thin rain/wind...

Who Has the Lowdown on Roseville Yammy?

Just got a promo email from Roseville Yamaha (or whatever they call it now--they sell Kawasakis and all kinds of other shit now too. But they're moving, so they say. Didn't say when or where, except the new location will be "less than a mile away". So anybody know?

    Winter Jacket Advice Needed

Sure, I know there's lots of discussion here and there on the board and over the years, but a couple reasons to start a new thread on the subject: First, maybe there's something new under the sun since the last go-round. Second, I wouldn't mind hearing from somebody who has a jacket they loved...

    Fairbanks--By Boat. Suggestions?

Not ALL the way by boat, that is, unless the polar ice caps all finish melting right away and Alaska gets a new shoreline, but this isn't going to be a motorcycle trip. We're doing a cruise up the inland passage this fall, then a train to Denali, finally back to Fairbanks. Never been there so...

    Free Canada Maps?

Whenever I cross into a new state I start looking for a state Visitor Information Center--always staffed by helpful folks--often volunteers I think--and they're happy to give you any number of free road maps and pamphlets, recommendations on restaurants, etc. In some cases, I've contacted state...
