'07 For Occasional Use in Ponchatoula, LA

Here's my FJR13AWR I bought new from Cycle Stop in Picayune, MS. Don't think they even sell Yahahas any more. I try to keep it looking like new (had various spots repainted and touched up thru the years); but inevitably, the ol' boots scrape the bags, etc., and at some point I'll have it buffed...

Bike Moving Expertise and Experience Needed!

U-Haul motorcycle trailers are for local use only. The only thing they sanction for 1-way MC use is the 5x9 aluminum utility trlr w/ramp (open, of course). I will wind up using one of these if I don't get any bright ideas in very near future.... Thanks again for all the input, folks.... John

Not the U-Hauls in my area (or anybody else around here, for that matter)... but again, thanks for the suggestion.

Bike Moving Expertise and Experience Needed!

Sounds as if we're getting a concensus here.... and it's not like I really didn't know it deep down. Tell me, do those front wheel chocks have to be bolted to the floor of whatever? (And I know you still have to use straps w/ the chock.) If so, I assume that means drilling, etc., which...

Bike Moving Expertise and Experience Needed!

I'm having to move the FJR about 600 miles via trailer, and I've never had to move a stationary bike before. I'm going to rent a trailer, and it would fit inside a 5x8 u-Haul, which is easily accessible for 1-way moves. But these things don't have tie-downs. Question: Is there a way to stabilize...

OK I found an 07 in Black Cherry like I wanted....

I also paid $12,200 in November (dealer in Picayune, MS). However, back in the day, "OTD" meant INCLUDING all TT&L (FINAL price; hence, "out the door"). The gracious salesman told me $11,700 at first, but didn't mention the $500 dealer prep until I pressed him! Swore it was just a "pass-thru"...

    Top cases

Just to play devil's advocate, I can see the value of doing a search for the info before posting a new question. I can see where the good folks who answer the same questions day after day can save a few keystrokes (it get's pretty tedious after a while), and also, folks who do look up topics can...

Don't forget to get quotes on different deductibles. It makes a BIG difference on the collision & comprehensive.

    dropped the bike

:biggrinsmiley: :black eye: My most profound sympathies, Ralph.... I've spilt mine twice and I still have the break-in oil in it! It's embarrassing.... never dropped either of my two previous bikes once! Both times for me, I had no chance of recovery... both times going about 1 mph, and both...

    Christened the FJR Yesterday

Mike at U-Mo ordered my parts on Friday. I don't have the parts in hand yet, so I hate to brag....but I must say.... he's saving me dern near 50% on those parts. Thanks again to all who responded and to the board managers for all the info. I hope never to have to use my local dealership for...

    Christened the FJR Yesterday

Just sent Mike at U-Mo an e-mail after getting a quote from the local dealer for about $300. I guess that's not as bad as it could be. I've decided to just replace the parts instead of painting. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks for all the help, guys.... If anybody needs any...

OK, I'm going to have a look at the sliders and see if I can get some prices on these pieces of "Tupperware" :D Meanwhile, here's the damage:

I missed the windshield, tank, and upper body; but I did get the tail, nose, and right mirror pretty good. Nothing's cracked or broken or apparently misaligned, though. Unfortunately, I have $1000 deductible insurance, and I'm hoping I can have it all fixed for much less than that. But good...

Golly... some folks are so literal! :D Sorry to disappoint. This was a "baptism by fire," FIGURATIVELY! Thanks to all for the pointers. I'll check 'em all out. Can't wait to get it "as new" again. (And man, that sombitch is heavy!)

Are there any Yamaha folks on the board that could I.D. and give me prices on the applicable body parts? I can take & send dig. pic's tomorrow. Also, fossilrider, for my bike, I see that colorRite has the bodywork color (dark cherry). I'd also need the silver/gray on the tail section. I wonder...

    Christened the FJR Yesterday

I was driving it up my new ramps to get it into the storage shed; I had to make a turn as soon as I got the front wheel onto the floor of the shed, and CRASH! I and the bike fell over on the right side. Thank God, neither was injured too badly; as for the bike, it has some scraped paint in a few...

Lets see pictures of your other motorized toys

I snapped this while the car was still sitting on the dealer's lot. Miraculously, survived Katrina, and now has less than 3K miles on it, mostly due to changes in lifestyle since "The Big K." (I don't have a garage any more and am storing at my parents' house 50 miles away.) It's the last year...

I took Ford68xl's suggestion and ordered the bifold metal 7.5' ramp. Thanks. Happy Motoring!

Of break-in's and oil changes: ramblings of a newbie

Thanks again for the kudos, folks. Anybody squirt diesel or solvent down the diff. to flush it out before adding the new fluid? Sounds like a good idea to me to get rid of the speckies before refilling it (I'm going to have to get that magnet.) TM
