    Startling Discovery

No, it was firmly seated and verified. Ran all of the nuts snug and loosed and then snugged them again before torquing. I verified the settings on the Torque wrench and torqued it, backed off and re-torqued. I believe I just used the wrong toque setting and vibrations let them back off. I am...

    Startling Discovery

I am certain I torqued them. I remember torquing them as I was careful they were all snug before I started to be sure it was seated. I also remember trying to be sure my torque wrench didn't scar the swing arm as I didn't have any painters tape. Like you, I also retrace every bolt and nut...

I put back the washers that came off when I took it apart. If memory serves me correct these are not lock washers. They are listed as Washer, Plate 92990-10600-00.

    Startling Discovery

A month ago I took my final drive off my FJR, removed the drive shaft and universal to lubricate and clean while a new set of PR4s were being installed for my trip to Eastern Canada. I reassembled everything and verified that all torque specs were followed during reassembly. I took a checkoff...

    Zumo 550 to Zumo 665

The screen on my 550 delaminated and then one day just quit working while on a trip with my wife. I bought the kit on ebay and fixed it myself. It is still water tight and touch sensitivity works like it did new. I am 100% satisfied with my 550.

    Fork seal leaking

Worked on my '08 with 30K on the clock like a champ! Wife and I have taken several trips since with no return leaks.

    RoadID

My wife and I never get on the bike without ours on. Mine is the Interactive version and she wanted the original. I feel better knowing first responders or emergency room personnel can get the informtion they need if I cannot speak for myself. Seems as important to me as the rest of the gear...

    Found my FJR!

Congratulations! '08 was a fine year for the Feejer IMHO! Enjoy! :yahoo:

    Olympia Airglide 3 pants?

My wife and I both have these and love them. I think they run true to size pretty much. They seem a little long when standing up but once you sit on the bike everything is where it is supposed to be and the legs of the pants don't pull up on your boots. Probably the most comfortable riding...

    Good first bike?

Great write up. Glad the FJR worked out for you and it seems you have the perfect motivation to put on the miles. So what will your excuse be to pack on the miles after the big day?

New 2010 FJR with head shake

I am not a motorcycle expert by a long shot but if it was a design flaw wouldn't 100% of FJRs exhibit this behavior? Mine was definately the front tire and after a different tire the wobble is gone. Sorry your issue has been more difficult to track down. Things like this really nag me until I...

    ABS is erratic

I want a refund on my Advanced MSF course since they had me practicing dangerous maneuvers such as trying to stop as fast as I could causing the ABS to activiate. Shame on them! I must admit the instructors were both impressed with my FJRs brakes. They both commented on how...

New 2010 FJR with head shake

Had a brand new tire mounted on my 08. Same exact tire model as the original. Prior to having the tire mounted the handlebars were stable, no shake at all. As soon as the new tire was mounted the dreaded headshake appeared. Immediately took it back to the dealership that mounted the tire...

    Windshield Shudders

My experience as well on my 08. I would not accept it on a brand new bike.

    Hip resurface

Don't know anything about your specific procedure but I can say that pain really takes the fun out of life quickly. My left knee was so bad it had to be replaced. Vacations were less fun and even ridding the bike any distance lost its appeal. Now that it has been replaced quality of life...

    Cigars?

One of my favorites is Cusano P1. Dark cigar yet not overpowering. I would call the flavor mild yet full without a harsh aftertaste IMHO. Usually priced reasonably as well.
