    Retail Services

[bump] Beware! They send the pink slip in this cheesy, very unofficial looking envelope. Important documents enclosed, etc. Looks like re-fi ad material. I almost threw it away without opening it.

    Fargo, ND, University Motors

They came through big for me :yahoo: . I needed a new Galaxy Blue front fender [and ABS stickers]. I don't want to give out numbers but suffice to say the savings was substantial. Very much so. Kudos to Mike in Parts at U-Motors. I would not hesitate to buy from them. Oh, yeah, I mentioned...

Final gear oil.... how did I miss this?

Do-it-yerselfers unite! :yahoo: This job is almost as easy as changing your bladder fluid. Drain the old stuff out, pour more beer in, repeat often.

    Retail Services

Good ideas, both. Thanks. Hmm, funny thing. On my insurance policy for my 1999 Mercury Mountaineer, which has been paid off for years, it still says "financed". Maybe I should consider that. Thanks.

    Retail Services

Greetings fellow Forum members: I have been making my monthly payments to Retail Services, as I'm sure some of you have as well. Anyway, on my next payment I'm going to pay it off, write payment-in-full on the check i.e. Has anyone had any troubles or unnecessary delays in having the pink...

    FJR Sales

Sales are up? Good. Whatever it takes. There is an upside to high gas prices. "There is no excuse for not owning a motorcycle".

    Valve Clearance Check/Adjustment

Holy clusterfuck, Batman :o :o :o :o . Well, that rules me out from ever buying one of these bikes. Way more work than I want to get into. The Fjr's shim-under is enough for me and luckily mine were all good.

    Valve Clearance Check/Adjustment

I wonder what the big deal is with this bike. Tank, body work, plumbing and various parts and pieces to get out of the way, same difference, no?

    T-Bar Bolt Torques

I'm not disputing that this t-bar is a structural brace. I'm sure it is. But 58 ft-lbs. in aluminum threads is just asking to rip the threads out. I'm sure the Yamaha revision accounts for this.

    T-Bar Bolt Torques

Long ago, I used to be all anal about "torquing it to specs". I actually used to torque the wheel lugs nuts on my cars. But the older I got, the wiser came with it. I can count the number of times, on 1 finger, that I was riding in a car and a wheel fell off. And even then only because some...

    How many tickets?

I guess I'm not trying hard enough  . Last bike ticket that I can remember was in 1986, in British Columbia, from a Canadian Mountie. Damn metric speed limit signs.

    Little help: valve clearance check

Perhaps a little Zen was all it took, becoming one with the sickle or something, but anyway... Success! :yahoo: Very happy that all clearances were in spec. 2 were near the high. An exhaust took the .009 gage and one of the intakes took a tight .008 gage. [ max is .0087] For anyone about...

    Look at What

The word "cherry" comes to mind. That piece belongs in a musuem. 500 some-odd miles per year? Someone's grandma rode it to church on Sunday.

    Little help: valve clearance check

Thanks. We shall see. I spent this evening wrestling that cadmium colored water pipe unit out, hopefully not tweaking anything. Damn, those recessed water ports load up with crud! Tomorrow after work I'll pull the valve cover.

    Little help: valve clearance check

Yep, that's the one. Thanks. Praying, crossing fingers on both hands and knocking on wood that the clearances are all good. Damn shim-under set-up. Shim-over, like the old FJ, is so much easier.

    Little help: valve clearance check

I'm just now attempting my first valve clearance check. ['05, 32K miles] Anyway, I'm stuck at the thermostat housing/ water distribution pipes to the head part. There is/was an excellent step-by-step, detailed article somewhere in here and I can't seem to find it. I want to say it was on...

    Pumpkining my '05

Pardon the old thread dredge-up, but..... Just wondering. I remember following this thread with considerable interest, waiting to see how it turned out for the BugR, hoping it would fly, etc. And, nothing. Anything?

    RIP charles heston

His movies were largely before my time. Without getting too political, I know of him mostly as a past president of the National Rifle Association, and I have the greatest respect for him and his efforts to protect the Second Amendment. RIP to a great American.

    MotoGP @ Laguna Seca

Interesting. No more cars allowed inside? As recently as 2005 [last time I was there] cars were still being let in and it made for a gargantuan clusterfuck. Mostly for the cars trying to get in. Book a hotel now, and January would have been better.

Gas costs got you thinking differently?

Or an Excursion  . I commute in the same neck of the woods and I see the same thing. And I can't help but think, out loud sometimes, dude, get a bike! Fools! Why are you content to just sit there and watch your gas gauge pendulum to the left while I lane split [share] my way past...
