    Engine died at speed

Thanks for the input. I had a tipover back around 2010 to that right side, but nothing since then, so that seems remote to be having a problem now. Mech at the dealer says he thinks it was the crankcase position sensor that sent a fault code that killed the engine, but it may never happen...

    Engine died at speed

Could be something simple like this - I didn't try to start it in neutral, but I would think if it were the sidestand switch, cycling the ignition shouldn't make any difference. I'm thinking of filing a NHTSA complaint regardless - engines shouldn't die at speed. Sam

    Engine died at speed

Yeah there were error codes 12 and 16. I left it with the guys at D & H since they're the ones who did the recall the first time. I'll see what they say this week. Sam

Yeah they were around $24,000 new in NZ when I was down there. I did find a used one for $19,000. That's how I ended up with a 1988 BMW K100RS.

    wrestled the centerstand

6'5", 210 lbs here. I had trouble trying it at the dealer, but once I got her home I figured out I was using my toe/ball of my foot to step down instead of my heel. Once it's centered on the stand (you can kind of feel this), just hold on and stand on the center stand with your heel and it...

89 BMW K100RS - what do you know about these?

I had an '88 K100RS while I lived in New Zealand last year. I put a few thousand kilometers on it and only had to change the oil and rear tire. It was my first non-cruiser and the reason I have an FJR now. I would buy one for $700. Sam
