    JUST A bLURB

Friends were doing the Alaska trip thing about 40 miles N. of Whitehorse, Yukon territory, four bikes in the group, 2 lane blacktop, beautiful weather, first two bikes passed a semi heading N. (this was Sat. morn. around 1100hrs) as the 2nd pair of bikes (my friends) began to pass, the trucker...

    Honda nc750x as second bike

Anyone out there familiar with this bike? Makes sense thought wise for a lightweight local ride, but could not stand a gutless wonder. Like to hear from someone that has one, or has ridden one for a while. I like sitting on one but have not ridden one. Not in to DCT trans., back in the day...

    Artist point open on Baker

Just thought I would let folks know. Still snow, Heather lake is under a couple of feet across the middle. Took a putt up that way to ride Mosquito lake road and found out at the store at the N. end of the road that the Pt. had been opened just this last weekend so got my yearly fix. Talking to...

    Smaller, lighter Bike, maybe not.

Age, hip etc. and grandma not riding caused the wing to go away for a 1000 V-strom, and still have the FJR. Did the local 3 pass route yesterday (stevens, blewitt and snoqualimie here in Wa.) and coming back for 90 miles over I-90 I was immersed in 75-80mph groups of traffic and boy I would not...

    Acme cafe-Fresh pie

Doldrum day, have ridden by the Acme cafe on highway 9 more times than I can count, never stopped because it was always out of my break cycle so I headed N. out of Everett for a short day putt to evaluate the cafe. Not a lot of time so I freewayed it to the N. side of Sedro W. and cut over to...

    Shinko tires?

    Whims

Just rolling the bike out and I noticed on the Strom I put red valve stems on black wheels, I cannot remember why, instead of the usual black, must have been a whim of some sort. Wonder how many other folks have done something connected to their rides on a whim?

    Little comparison, V-strom, 900gt

Currently my 2nd bike is a 2014 1000 V-strom, I know many FJR riders have 2nd, 3rd or more rides. My 2013 FJR is my main ride and usually the primary choice, however, I am always looking down the road due to aging, aches and pains. Lighter has become more important ( wing is gone and the wife no...

    High Bridge, Ben Howard,road research

1400hrs, Tues Nov 13. High bridge was clear and dry, little mulch strips between tire tracks in a few spots but no maple leaves, teensy bit of muddy gravel where dirt driveways entered in a couple of spots. (same on Ben Howard) Ben Howard was very nice and clear, fewer brownish strips and a...
