Mixing Michelin Road 6 GT and 4 GT?

I have been using Road 6 first set now has 9,000 miles and 3/32 remaining tread. I expect to get 12,000 before retiring them. I inflate front 39psi rear 42psi. I weigh 145lbs and ride moderate aggressive. Considering my weight I have never used GT's.

Oil Filter Question 2024 FJR ES 1300

It is my understanding the OEM Yamaha oil filters have changed part numbers several times however the current OEM filter available is OK for any later generation FJR. Am I correct??

    yamaha adjustable levers

I too have used the Pazzo knock offs and they worked just fine but the color did fade. I moved up to the real thing, Pazzo and they are now 5 years old and look like new. If you are just looking for function go with the better grade knock offs. Keep they well waxed and they may not fade.

    Wrist pain after 3 hours

Did a web check and the outfit is no longer in business. There are other manufacturers of similar bar ends. None require batteries!!

    Wrist pain after 3 hours

This is an interesting discussion. I have had three FJR's, the first was stock and it took many niles to get comfortable transitioned from a cruiser. I read an article in one of the motorcycle magazines about proper siting position on a motorcycle. In short, it said there should be no weight...

Final Drive Oil Change, Do This

It is my understanding from past discussions on this topic, the FJR U-joint has no service requirement. Also the splines should be checked for lube initially as many are delivered dry from factory. Once they are lubed it is not necessary to do it again as there is very little movement on the...

    Florida's tallest waterfall

For the record, the first producing oil well in the U.S. was in Oil Creek near Titusville, PA. August 27, 1859. Known as Drake well.

    Battery replacement

This is an interesting subject. Why is it the Japanese YUASA batteries last so much longer than those not manufactured in Japan? I had two FJR 2007's in the past and never had to change the original battery. My current 2014 was changed last year because it was not holding full charge after...

Are OEM brake pads for a 2014ES sintered?

I am in the camp with RossKean. I have had three FJR's and never had a leak in any of the brake components. My riding habits and cleaning procedures may have contributed to this. I have never ridden on roads where salt was present. I rarely ride in the rain. After each trip I carefully clean the...

Are OEM brake pads for a 2014ES sintered?

When you folks rotate the pads, do you switch pads left side to right side and vise versa? I have 67,000 on my original pads and they still look to be more than half remaining on the pads. Nearly all the miles are road trips and I always use engine braking and rarely ever needed to break hard.

    Push Pin Fasteners

I have had three FJR's and never once had an issue with the Phillips head fasteners. I suspect the reason they would fail is because when re-setting them they are turned beyond what is needed. Kinda like stripping the threads!!

    E15 / Unleaded 88 in 2008 FJR1300

I stopped buying Big Three manufactured vehicles in 1971 when I bought a Toyota Celina. Over the next 52 years I have owned only Japanese vehicles,Toyota, Nissan, Yamaha and Lexus vehicles. Never have I had to replace a fuel pump. I have never used E85 fuel. The highest mileage on any of those...

    2024 FJR1300 Announced - No Changes

I'm now too old to be thinking about how much longer the FJR will be in production. I will ride my 2014ES until I elect to stop throwing a leg over the saddle. If I were to buy another motorcycle it will have to be shaft drive. I see no reason Yamaha cannot fit a compliant engine in the FJR...

    Heated grips.

This is interesting. I have been using Grip Buddies (thin) for quite some time. I started with my 2014 when new in Dec 2013 and only changed out for new last year. Current miles on the bike 70,125 miles. Never had splitting just gradual wear mostly on the throttle grip. If you use the thin Grip...

Got it. Is there anything broken the panel? If yes, how much would it cost to just replace the panel?

    First scratch

I take it this is the panel that covers the access to the radiator overflow if on the left side. You seemed to indicate your bike is a 2013. If that is the case, are the panels not flat black? Also, you mentioned the fastener was broken. That single fastener if pretty robust and cannot imagine...
