The Bike will be a bit of a challenge for you solo and much bigger challenge with two up. Just keep in mind if or when you drop it there will be a lot of very expensive damage to say nothing about getting hurt. IF you decide to buy one I suggest you consider some after market "CrashBars" which...

    FJR vs. Bear

It's good nothing worse happen, it's called being lucky. I have given up night riding there are too many hidden dangers that can't be seen at night no matter how good or experienced a rider that you are.

AE vs Standard Clutch Pro and Con

I have over 150k on AE bikes and never had any Yamaha related issues, except for the headlight lenses which were covered under warrenty. As many have suggested one of the hardest things to master is low speed maneuvers. It is much easier to keep the bike in 2nd gear you will be much smoother. I...

    Pilot Road 4's are here

The PR-3 tires are excellent. I get app 7k from the rear. A friend got 14k from the front, it was totally shot but at 12k still just ok. I have tried the PR-4 tires and will go back to the 3's next tire change. There is a sound from the tread pattern I do not like, not real bad just don't like...

Musings of an aging FJR rider

If your wife is a fearful rider on her own bike it's only a matter of time before something bad is going happen. If you enjoy having her with you and have concern for her safety you already know the answer you need a two up bike she also enjoys. If it were me I would not sell your FJR. You will...

A few Questions for all AE Riders

Innocent Bystander pretty much nailed it. I have well over 100K on AE bikes, 06, 08 & 09. I have physcial issues resulting for a wreck over 6 yrs ago. If it were not for the AE I'm not sure how I would ride. I've never had any kind of issue with the AE function. It takes getting use to but once...

Drill & tap a hole in the left handle bar forward of the grip and use a threaded ball mount. These ball mounts come in two different thread sizes. You will need to use a bottom tap for this.

    AE 1st gear

Using the rear brake with the AE is the key also use 2nd gear for very low speed turns.

    AE Slow Rides

Another method I use for low speed turns is to leave it in 2nd gear everything happens slower & smoother. I have over 100K on AE's and have never had an issue with the clutch.

    Biker or Motorcyclist

Bikers tend to need new tires about every 3 to 5 years while motorcyclist/riders go though 2 to 3 sets per season. Bikers ride for looks, show and being COOL while motorcyclist/riders ride for the pure enjoyment of being on two wheels.
