    Saying hello

Saying hello (fwiw)  Just stumbled back on the forum after a 10 year layoff.  I left after Tim "two-wheel-nut" and Andrew "Orangevale" passed.  Continued to ride putting on about 55k on the '06 AE.  About 4-5 years ago, had a very close call that caused me to vacate riding for a while.  Now...

    side vent adjustments

This is a little funny because I've been away from the forum for 2-3 yrs and this was the hot topic (sorry) back then still being hammered today. We even called Yamaha on their take on it. The only way this topic is going to be decided is for someone to step up and strap on or duct tape about...

    New 2009 AE or 2012 A

Thought I'd chime in here. You need to talk to James (sales manager) at SA Yamaha. Printing out this thread probably would help maybe with some price matching. Those guys are tops in customer service. On another note, it's been a while since posting. Hope everybody's doing okay. git-r-dan...

    Lost my key.

FWIW, I entered the key code into my phone as a phone number. I probably read to do that on this forum a few years back. Dang, its probably been over a year being away from the forum...good to be back and lots of catching up to do. git-r-dan :beach:

Intrests in forming an Alabama FJR riders group?

Bumping an old thread...add me to the group. I'm becoming more and more of an south Alabama visitor lately. Wife is working in Mobile so I'm making the trip about every 4-6 weeks so I'm looking for any FJR riders in the area. We usually do a Sunday cruise along that scenic route towards...

Patti Knight (Mrs. TWN) Passed Away, Friday, 1/15

Our prayers are with Patty and her family. Looking back to when I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer, this forum was so supportive and special. Prayers to this family for strength, cherishing these precious moments. Dan & Yvonne

    Cruise installer(s) in Houston / Austin ?

Dito to that. Wish there was someone like that in TX. Although, I would be willing to (maybe) get together and try to get both installed if you were willing to take part and try. My garage would be a little less desirable, because of lack of organization, but I have accomplished quite a few...

    FJRF008: Cam Chain Tensioner Survey

RH, u da man! A – 2006 B – 30,000 C – Had the dealer do the work (30,000) D – Yes, replacing the CCT did eliminate the problem. E – Yes, I first noticed it on a ride, then it wouldn't hold idle the next morning. Then, trucked it to the dealer where they diagnosed the problem then ordered...

    back on the road

RT, Congrats on gettin back on after such a dramatic get-off. I also have been running Avon Storms after the stock set expired. They excel on the sides to give you better grab around the turns, although, carefulness with speed seems to be the key. Not to make this a redundant tire thread...

    Bike won't hold idle

They've installed my heli risers for $35 on the switch recall, installed the G2 for free, grip puppies - twice free, new battery installed - free, ... It seems they always forget one thing or another at each service, but I really do give the mechanics some room for human error (I stress...

    Bike won't hold idle

I trailered it back to the house after the cam chain tensioner was replaced and then, without a test drive, drove it to Mobile, Al with the engine dying at stops until I got the hang of keeping it running. It really didn't run that bad at cruising speed but a huge difference after the fix...

    Bike won't hold idle

Well, well, well... life is good. Took the bike back to the dealer. Mechanic opens it up and the mark is just a micro tad to the left of top dead on. He shows his boss who says its OK as is. He tells me that the R1's are like that as they are not exactly on the mark. Anyway, he expects that...

    Bike won't hold idle

Just stumbled on this thread and am glad to know of a hopeful solution to the same idle/stalling problem. Took it to the dealer with the cam chain tensioner replaced along with the switch recall about a month and a half ago. When I got the bike back, noticed the same thing going on. Last...

    Question for AE owners

I have around 33k on mine. Not to turn this into an oil thread...but, I have tried different brands of oils (for some reason) until the time before last oil change. That one was Royal Purple. It was noticibly different in the fact that the clutch was slipping a lot more than normal and seemed...

    Error code SH___48

After a replacement of the cam tensioner, got the bike back and had a low idle. I went ahead and traveled to AL and back. At stops, the idle would be low, so I'd shift into neutral to idle up a little till the light turned green, then shift and go. Occasionally, I would get the sh__ 48 code...

side cowls in open position makes us cooler or warmer

One of these days, someone is going to take some digital thermometers and strap them on the outside of the legs and do a test run with the vents open and then close the vents and do another test run to finally end this debate. Any techies out there want to take this project on. Would it be...
