In lieu of getting aftermarket an aftermarket exhaust, has anyone gutted/removed baffles or otherwise modified the stock exhaust cans?

I'd like to get some bigger (heavier) bar ends, but all the stuff on Ebay is aluminum.
I don't need the Throttlemeister ones, so I'm looking for a quality steel end.

I just purchased a 2007 Black Cherry FJR and love it. Unfortunately it didn't come with the silver body caps that cover the saddlebag holes.
Anyone have any lying around that they don't want/need? Let me know how much.
