Considering a different take on abrubt throttle response due to Yamaha fuel cut off when coasting in gear

I did get a cahnce to try it this weekend. It woudl ahve been ncie to some sort of metric to it (e.g accelermonters tracking size and time of torque spikes), but I didn't ahve that capabilty in the garage, so I had to rely on the untrustowrthy butt-dyno. I tried advign the TPS to both 23 (on...

Considering a different take on abrubt throttle response due to Yamaha fuel cut off when coasting in gear

Not sure where the edit button went. in the last sentence in my previous post I meant "ionbeam seems like he may know something about the system logic, but is having issue with his computer."

Considering a different take on abrubt throttle response due to Yamaha fuel cut off when coasting in gear

Wfooshee, In my post to ionbeam I screwed up and for some reason the edit button doesn’t show up. The injectors are actually not digital. There is a transient component in their performance. There is basically an "attack", "sustain", and "decay" phase when they are fired, but true, you can't...

how to open glovebox with no power

I don't have my bike with at the moment so I can't look, but perhaps you can remove the plastic adjacent to the left fork tube and get access to the solenoid bracket screws and remove the solenoid. Then stick a sccredriver or similalr tool up in there to push on the latch. Alternatley, you can...

Considering a different take on abrubt throttle response due to Yamaha fuel cut off when coasting in gear

BobQ, I don't presently have a PC. My idea is to cheat the EFI with a tiny advance of the tps and hope I don't make it too rich.

Considering a different take on abrubt throttle response due to Yamaha fuel cut off when coasting in gear

Chuck35, I don't recall seeing a switch (normally closed or open) in the wiring diagram. I will look again. I did check impedance and voltage and they were within spec.

Considering a different take on abrubt throttle response due to Yamaha fuel cut off when coasting in gear

Inewlf, Ivan Performance Products has the fuel cut off eliminator for other bikes, but not the FJR.

Considering a different take on abrubt throttle response due to Yamaha fuel cut off when coasting in gear

As far as "...all in the wrist", that is true, but I want the calibration it to be as good as my other bikes or my cars. It is also wildly different from my other bikes and the differences are hard to adapt to when switching from my other bikes to the FJR. Wfooshee, I'm not convinced the ECU...

removing Throttlemeister replacing the OEM bar ends

I'm not sure how the FJR1300 one works, but the ones I've messed with on other bikes come with various spacer washers to set the adjustment. Keep swapping the washers until you get an adjust that works fine for you. Also note that thermal expansion may change how tight the Throttlemeister holds...

Considering a different take on abrubt throttle response due to Yamaha fuel cut off when coasting in gear

I have a 2006 FJR1300A. Like many of you, I don't appreciate the abrupt throttle response when rolling on the throttle after coasting in gear with the throttle off. There are a bunch of fixes out there that mitigate the issue to varying degrees - Barbarian mod/CO, throttle spring removal...

    Shifting Improvement

A few of us seem to have very difficult 1-2 shifts. The dogs don't always engage smoothly. Outside of an indiscernible amount of viscous shear, the clutch fully releases. but it takes time. The plates just stick together for what seems like 1/2 a second or so. Is the R1 linkage a shorter throw...

Barnett Clutch Pack and Spring Install

Maybe maybe not. If there is some play between the piston and the rod you might get a little more travel as less piston displacement is use to take up the play. I'd have to take it apart to see what's going on in there. I'm not sure what functions as a travel stop when the piston comes back. If...

Do Barnett clutches or new Yamaha clutches fix notchy 1st/2nd shift?

I read thru the link ScottyUSN point me too. The Barnett doesn't seem to help much. I didn't really expect it too, but I wanted to explore all the bandaids.

Barnett Clutch Pack and Spring Install

Thanks. I might look into putting a shim between the clutch rod to force a little more useful travel of the clutch rod.

LAF, How are the 1-2 shifts 6 months after you put in the Barnett stuff?

Do Barnett clutches or new Yamaha clutches fix notchy 1st/2nd shift?

I bled the hydraulics twice, adjusted the lever all the way out, tried two oils (Yamalube and a Maxima synthetic), and did a clutch cleaning and soak. They yielded subtle improvements at best, but nothing approaching my other motorcycles (R1100R excepted). Preloading the shifter helps, but you...

Do Barnett clutches or new Yamaha clutches fix notchy 1st/2nd shift?

There are various threads on this forum regarding the notchy 1st to 2nd gear shift. Clutch cleaning and soaking has worked for many, but not for all. Same with synthetic oil and clutch hydraulic fluid bleeding. Has anyone tried replacing the original clutch plates and disks with either new...

2006 A model and sticking clutch

I decided to try a change of oil. I didn’t have much hope for success, but I don’t know what the previous owner put in the bike and I don’t know when he last changed it although it was pretty clear when I bought the bike from Bob’s BMW. In addition, Bob's indicated that they didn’t change the...
