Visiting Miss Lucy Liu/Lucille next week

As some might recall, last year our son adopted Miss L.L/L and I rode her up to Seattlish from O.C. A couple months later they moved across the state and have been enjoying drier weather. Next week Ill do the Second Annual Road Trip to the PNW, this time both directions - and aboard the...

Lucille’s (née Miss Lucy Liu) last ride

Hard to believe its been 5 1/2 years since I flew to PHX to ride her to her new home by the beach. Fond memories of meeting Beemerdons and the chilly January ride home (420 miles just flew by). Shes spending the next chapter of her life with our son, Jason, in WA. An experienced rider both off...

Miss Lucy Liu/Lucille Go to Julian for Pie

After spending a couple days chasing electrical ghosts, she was ready for PIE! My bride and I rode Rose and son Jason, visiting from Seattlish, rode Lucille. (Knowing how many people she was shared with when she was BeemerDonS' gal, it felt good to keep the tradition alive.) The route down was...

    Electrical Ghost - won't power up/ start

As the title indicates, when I turn the key to 'on', nothing happens. Zilch. Now the weirdness: when I turn the key back to off, the 'diagnostic' flopping of the speedo & tach happens - and a bit of the fuel pump hum for a second. No dash lights, nada. I can amuse myself by doing this several...

SOLD: Woman's pants - Joe Rocket Ballistic

Dopey me. Only worn 3-4 times. Perfect condition. No, really - perfect. I bought these for my bride at the same time that I bought a pair for myself, about a dozen years ago. These are not the current '7.0' model seen here: https://joerocket.com/catalog/index.c...0%5BTextile%5D I wore mine...

    Bird-Brained

I'm either a late bloomer or behind the curve. For 15+ years I've had lust in my heart for the Blackbird. Three years ago I saw one at a dealer and was REALLY tempted, but it wouldn't fit in my luggage (we were in Budapest at the time). Two years ago I bought Beemerdons FJR - and I love it...

    Gasoline smell

The other morning I rode home and parked in the garage. Got off the bike and smelled gasoline. (Bike had not been sitting in sun; ride home was 20 miles/freeway; tank 5/6 full; air temps high 50s.) No signs of leaking fuel. I left the garage open, and within a couple hours the smell had...

    New Windshield

At the IMS in Long Beach (10 days ago) I filled out cards at vendors. Like most folks, I figure it can't do any harm - but I don't hold my breath waiting to hear that I won something. Two days later I received an email from National cycle: "We are happy to inform you that you name was drawn as...

    Big Sur... From the South

After reading George's Border to Border Insanity RR, I'm almost embarrassed by my little RTE. I guess I'll just rationalize it with "apples & oranges". ---------- We had signed up for the forum gathering in Sparks, had our reservations at the hotel & plans to visit relatives in East Bay and...

    L'Idiot rides again

Or "Stupid is as stupid does". I became aware of the Moonshine Lunch Run a few years ago and tucked it away in my "must do" file. This year the stars aligned: the piggy bank was available, the time was available - and the weather forecast looked like a big change from the usual "wimps need not...

OEM Rear shock interchangeability - Gen 1&2

I've searched and found references to moving a Wilbers shock from Gen 1 to a Gen 2. I've looked up the OEM part numbers, and the first three digits are different for OEM shocks for Gen 1 & Gen 2. Does anyone know if a Gen 2 OEM will work on a Gen 1? Thanks for any direction.

    San Marcos, CA: Motoport

Outstanding Service! After years of drooling, I finally made the ride to Motoport. What finally pushed me over the edge (besides knowing that I wanted gear that would provide actual protection in a get-off, especially since my current name-brand pants were coming apart at the seams) was their...
