FJR or RT, Used Bike Prices

Well that's entirely possible but he gave me all the service records (three oil changes, a TPS recall and a battery replacement) and dealership contact where it was serviced. It's an older gentleman who bought a BMW K1200R and couldn't keep both bikes. We do have a lot of people on here that...

FJR or RT, Used Bike Prices

I found this discussion interesting and perhaps I can offer a slightly different perspective than most. While I never rode either the ST, FJR, Kawi or RT I was considering them all- in that order. The FJR popped up, it's super clean, low miles etc so I jumped on it because the consensus seems to...

    Oil leak on the fork

Tom, any pics of the plastic cut-outs? The sealmate tool is pretty inexpensive but it's the whole place-the-order-and-wait deal I don't like. Also do you not have to disassemble the forks to change or refill the oil? I've never taken them apart myself.

    Oil leak on the fork

Thanks guys. I'll try the sealmate fix, just not sure how long it's been like this and how much oil is left

    Oil leak on the fork

I noticed some clean, oil on the shiny part of the right front fork, I wiped it off, grabbed the front brake lever and bounced the front end a bit and sure enough some more oil. I take it the forks need new seals and probably due for oil replacement too? Second I'm wondering how big of a job it...

Issues with newly acquired 2005 FJR with 10k miles

Based on the info you guys have provided it does seem to make sense about the two very rich/fouled plugs, especially being on the same coil. However, I now attribute that and the subsequent bluing of the exhaust to the bad battery terminal connection; it was injecting gas but the coil didn't...

Issues with newly acquired 2005 FJR with 10k miles

Thank you all for your help, just a quick update. This morning I rode the bike approx 150mi to run the injector cleaner through the tank. I then filled up again, added a Chevron 'fuel system cleaner concentrate plus' and ran that for about 70 miles or so. Clicked off 7k rpm a couple of times and...

Issues with newly acquired 2005 FJR with 10k miles

I posted this in the FJR specific section but I didn't get a lot of responses so I'm hoping to get some help here:( I purchased a 2005 FJR with only 10k miles on it just a few days ago. Right from the get-go it seemed to have a weird surging and stumbling. I figured it probably needed to be run...

    Looking for other '05 owners

Oh and any thoughts on what may have caused the blued exhaust pipes? or what's going on with the plugs and what may have caused the no-power/pinging issue I had this morning? I keep thinking it had to do with the battery?

Funny you guys mentioned the injector cleaner; I went for a 20mile ride and just put 12oz Chevron injector cleaner in the tank that also has fresh 89 octane gas in it from this morning. Is this Ring Free Plus cleaner even better? I'll try that on the next tank full. Not to jinx anything but the...

OK guys. Really need some help here. So I went to the local parts store to pick up some spark plugs for the FJR this morning and the bike felt like it had no power especially pulling from the stop lights. 15mins later it even started pinging and vibrating on take off with me having to slip the...

So I decided to tear into the bike this evening. My gf walked in and said "wow that didn't take even 2 days before you started taking the bike apart" lol I found some corrosion on the connectors that this (clicky) thread refers to. So I cleaned it but that hasn't made any noticeable...

wow, thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated. The bike was well cared for and is completely stock. Doing some searches I found a couple of threads pointing to corrosion on the ECU connector that could cause the weird throttle issues. I looked up the Barbarian mod, sounds interesting- and...

Hi all, I just purchased a 2005 Feejr with 9800 miles on it. I'm coming from a 2009 Ninja 650R (mini-sport touring). I would love to say that I love the Feejr over the Ninja but I can't right now. What I really wanted was a ST1300, figuring if it's good enough for the Highway Patrol it should be...
