Fixing 41 year old Honda CBX mirrors....

Just sold my '82 after 17 years....3 bikes and 4 cars with one on the way...too many toys

    Oxford Heated grips

I agree, adventure model. I've used Oxfords for years......one set worn to heating elements (203K miles on bike) and still worked fine ! Easy install.

    Seeking advice on first FJR

Bought an '03 new, and subsequently 4 '04's. Five bikes, approx 500K miles. (sold one at 203K. 1 at 167K.. 1 clutch slave cylinder, 1 throttle position sensor, 1 cam chain tensioner total "issues") Did replace I think 2 rear shocks with used, low mileage take-off's. Same tall windshield on all...

    GEN II headlight access

I "assume" you are accessing from the top rather than from the bottom ?

    GEN II headlight access

Yes, hemostats are invaluable in tight places....can turn a 2 hour job into 15 minutes. A mirror (sometimes held my a helper) can also be a great help ! I had a K2 750 Honda (83K miles) and a mechanic friend told me that with a hemostat he could get paid for 2 hrs work and replace a throttle...

    GEN II headlight access

On a GEN II ? I've not tried it yet for fear of getting plugs off but unable to get them back on and lack of time to remove panels.

    GEN II headlight access

I admit I also very much dislike a modulator in my rear view while riding. I shut it off if I am following someone on a bike. Although I will admit to using it if I am behind a particularly slow rider on a twisty two lane road. They either speed up or wave me by when safe to do so. "Most" slower...

    GEN II headlight access

RE: Modulators...."My view" is that the benefits outweigh the downside of possibly ticking off/annoying another motorist and I try to keep that in mind. After several hundred thousand miles of not once being "notified" by another driver of their displeasure I'll continue to use it.

    GEN II headlight access

Thanks...sure "looks" like that black panel restricts access from below. I can remove the panels...just hate to if there's a better way.... I've had a modulator for years, at least 300K miles, and ride extensively in East TN & Western NC as well as cross-country generally at least once a year...

    GEN II headlight access

After five Gen 1's and about a half million miles I've got an '07. Need to install my old headlight modulator. Been reading a ton of posts but no mention of what "appears" to be a means of gaining access. Looking under the bike it appears that the black plastic piece under the fairing and...

Motorcycle For Sale 2004 FJR1300 for sale SAN DIEGO

Any "Stabil" when it sat ? Ethanol gas ? Unless indoors and "climate controlled" I'd be very wary of old tires. No warning when they let go.... If you can open tank I'd inspect closely for any sign of rust.....would probably remove and/or completely remove any old fuel.

    2004 FJR Still running hard

Bought an '03 new, 4 '04's since.....approx 500K miles: 1 clutch slave cylinder, 1 cam chain tensioner, 1 TPS. One had 167K miles, another 203K miles.

Motorcycle For Sale 2004 w/plastic damage

I've got a 65K mile bike that a lady backed into and bike landed on left side. Lower right fairing is non-repairable. Turn signal bent but works...may or may not need replacement. Left side upper is broken, lower is scratched. Left saddlebag is scratched. (Right bag already has cosmetic damage)...

2006(+?) FJR1300 Recalls and Service Bulletins

I had an issue with one of my '04's stumbling. I ran it almost empty, raised the tank, cleaned the 14 pin wiring harness connector with DeOxit (sp) and a cotton swab. Never had another problem, sold the bike with 167k miles. Never showed a trouble code of any kind....worth a try.....45 minutes...

New to me ST or new FJR?

I bought a new 2003 FJR in '02. Had an ST 1100 (157K miles) and an ST1300 previously. The ST1300 never fit me well as I got arm cramps when riding twisties quickly. Thus I've now had five FJR's. The1st an '03 and I am now on my fourth 2004 model and have ridden them a total of close to 500K...
