    Glad to be alive!

After doing a 600 mile in 2 day quick trip up to Kernville, CA on as little Superslab as possible I came within an inch of disaster on the return trip 5 miles from home on the I-5 in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Coming through a turn in the middle of the #3 lane was BLOCK of wood small enough to fit...

    YO-YO-YO-YO-YOSEMITE

Checked out Oakhurst availability. It looks full up but for a 2 star Comfort Suites at a whopping $130.00! I'm backing out because I remembered we'll be in Mammoth weekend before Labor Day. (and Comfort Suites usually suck) Really would like to catch one of these group rides though...

    YO-YO-YO-YO-YOSEMITE

I'd love to finally get on the road and meet some fellow forum riders! Park City looked good but I've got tickets to a Rush concert July 25th. My wife may come along. (Is that okay?) We had done Yosemite a few years back with a stop at Benton Hot Springs. Tioga Pass is a hoot! :yeaahh:

    Be Careful on Ortega Hwy!

Last time I rode Ortega on a weekend it was a 25mph Harley parade. :pirate: Weekdays not much better. :angry2: The fast days are over for that stretch of Hwy 74. Even after "safety" measures are complete the heavy traffic will hinder the fun.

Does this apply to the much talked about R1200GS too?

Organizing the Space in the Hard Bags

I have found the liners that came with my '06 FJR to be substandard. The only good thing about them is that they have nice embroidery. My wife just did some sewing to put a strap back on and keep one zipper on. They sould last another trip or 2. I see new ones on ebay for $50 + shipping :cry...

    Head Shake-Not mine, the bike

Got the shakes too! Decelerating 40MPH downhill shaking the "numb" out after 12mi. of twisting downhill. I must say it was disconcerting the first time it happened. Now I got brand new Michelins  I'll see how it goes. For the most part it is best to keep at least one hand on at ALL...

    First Ride-new 06 fjr

After reading all these "first impression" statements I'm just going to consider myself lucky. No problem with the seat, engine purrs, shifts great, brakes great, corners great, throttle doesn't bother me either. Maybe thats why I've put 3500+ miles on it in the first month. I'm 6'3 so the only...

Any Autobahn left in the US of A?

Hwy 168 between Big Pine, CA and Oasis Ranch off Hwy 266 in NV. Nestled between wonderful twisties with crests is a valley (Deep Springs Ranch is there) You can open it up as long as you want until the next set of twisties of coarse. :o I happened upon it early Aug. For the middle of summer...

Another Metzler Z6 bites the dust

For every Z6 horror story here I can up you two BT020 self destruct tales from BMW land. And don't get me started on the number of people over there that HATE the same Avons we love. The BTO20 came stock on my '06FJR. The Michelin Pilots came stock on my my '02 Honda 919. 3000 miles on my FJR...

    New Guy w/question

Hey, I adjusted my cable just today (double checking here to see if was done right) as I put fresh oil in and ready the bike for another epic 1200+ miles up to Tahoe out to Tonopah :clapping: and back home. Welcome to all that are new and THANKS to you helpful veterans. (I'll probably be...

    Oil change tips & tricks

You are obviously not in anyway a Fireman. They have to be the most anal-retentive creatures on the planet.

Why did you/they sell the FJR 1300?

Another positively beneficial comment from bare (sp) ly. Note: I'll keep my chatterbox on a different frequency :Snorkle: Please be careful not to go down on that GS. Especially when you are the "The only man in no man's land" as the slogan goes. There are actually classes that will teach you...

Why did you/they sell the FJR 1300?

Just want to say that the Honda 919 does kick ass (for a day ride) :coolsmiley02: Buying the 06 FJR was a great step up and away from the 919. My wife is very happy on the back of the FJR, and on my first tour of 1400 miles in 4 days I have finished with no posterior or other physical pains...

How do you get to screws on an 06 windscreen?

Read some posts on loose screws being to blame for some rattle when screen is in the down position. I was going to address this issue but would really like to know how the "W" is fastened on the front. Does it just snap on and off? I don't want to SNAP it and break it. I'd be thankful...
