    Turbo Dave Hicks- Passing

Dave was a great fellow and a good friend of mine, I think of him often.

    Regular fuel vs Premium fuel?

Here in Colorado, everything is E-10 except for a few stations scattered around no matter the season. I do have a Maverick station a couple miles from my house that has E-0, but it's not cheap. I use it for my mowers, etc. I did try it in my Honda pick-up and it definitely has more pickup but...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

I purchased an egg (IIRC got it from Amazon, cheap but I think it's as good as the Green Egg and no ceramics to crack and replace. This Komodo set me back three hundred bucks. Made by Char-Griller, Tragger would be a good choice for set and forget. My neighbor has one and he loves it.

Time Flies, Zero Issues with FJR

The reason I chose the comic sans and larger fonts was out of respect for older folks like myself, who's sight might be fading a bit, or a lot. Sorry about the font, in the future I will leave things alone.

Time Flies, Zero Issues with FJR

Fourteen years ago today my FJR arrived at the dealer after a six month wait - well worth the wait. There were two of them waiting to be uncrated. I told them to build the other one first, I would wait (learning curve). I think these were the first in Colorado - IIRC mine was #xxxxx176. What a...

    NAFO 2016 Official Thread

Ahh, the MDH. I believe the first time I experienced it was during the first NAFO here in Colorado (Golden). I signed up for the Iron Butt ride instead of the BBQ. It was quite a ride and part of it was from Silverton to Grand Junction via MDH. I have the SS1k ride on my photo site - click link...

    NAFO 2016 Official Thread

Sorry to hear that. Past few years I've become heat intolerant (mainly age related I think), so my Wing stays mainly in the man cave - poor thing. You definitely did the right thing by getting off the road IMHO.

    NAFO 2016 Official Thread

About Darksiding, I attended the first NAFO in Golden CO and rode my Gl1800 on the SS1k with my first CT Kumho Ecsta run flat. Only had 150 miles on the tire but did just fine. I was the only rider not on an FJR. Nothing to fear from Dark side

    FJR most common issues

I do not know from experience, but that seems to be an issue from what I've read comparing FJRs and STs. IMHO the FJR is a more funner ride )

Kc5 "I'm actually considering picking up an older Gen 1 bike just to ride to work. I have a 50 mile a day commute and don't like stacking up the miles on my current bike, just to go to work. I'm still researching the quirks of the Gen 1 bikes and don't know alot about them yet." They run hot -...

    FJR most common issues

On my '03 the ECU would 'hunt', resulting in surging especially while chugging through a small farm burg while riding blue highways. It seemed to be caused mainly by very lean co settings. I did the Barbarian jumper thing to the ECU and it cured the surging problems by running the EFI richer...

2014 Availablility and Price D&H Cycles

Not much of a stud. I dealt with the sales manager on the Wing purchase from the gitgo. Told him about internet prices from various stores around the country and he said he couldn't touch the price. I said ok, I will go out of state and save a few thousand. By the time I got home (three whole...

2014 Availablility and Price D&H Cycles

Never did a fly and drive, but I saved significant bucks by twisting the arms of sales managers and store owners showing them internet advertised prices. I would have no problem with purchasing a bike from afar, but I could get close to the same price locally. I was successful doing this with a...

    FJR most common issues

Yes indeedy, changing out the Wingofilter can be a days work, but much cheaper than dealer doing it. IIRC, filter change on the FJR was about a 15 minute job.
